hiiiii becca!! hope you’ve been doing well lately 🤗 i literally am obsessed with your heading, and i was wondering if you had any tips on how to set up a layout like that?
maybe ive overthinking it or something but i just cant wrap my head around the diagonals but also with the gutter space in between 😵💫
hiiii char it's good to hear from you i hope you've been well too ❤️ so when i do a diagonal layout what i actually do is set it up as a normal horizontal layout first so that i can sort out all my guttering! i make the canvas bigger than needed so that it can be adjusted for later steps, but just as an example, this is what i started off for with my header:
i then go to image size > image rotation > arbitrary and rotate the image by 45 degrees which makes everything diagonal as so:
then i changed the canvas to the dimensions i actually wanted my header at, which effectively 'zooms in' to create the actual layout:
and from that, i can create my gifs! i also sometimes duplicate the shapes a few times to 'thicken' the edges as rotating can make them blur, so that can create a smoother edge for the gif. but yeah, that's basically it! it can take a little bit of forward planning because you have to think about how the image will rotate, but that's why i tend to just make a super large canvas which is cropped down as then i don't end up with random gaps.
