He has the dark orange complexion of his hobgoblin heritage with black, shoulder length hair. His right eye is yellow while his left is dark red. Lazarus typically wears sturdy travelling cloths under his heavy armor, only wearing his more noble attire when ceremony demands.
Lazarus has spent his life trying to prove he is more than what others would condemn him to be by his birth. He carefully considers his choices and actions and how they will reflect on him and the Order of paladins he serves. Lazarus holds himself to the highest standard and tries to be the ideal āknight in shining armorā.
Lazarus, first known as Verk, was born and raised in a Hobgoblin war camp until the age of six when the camp was attacked and purged by an Order of paladins. Attempting to escape the destruction, Verk was discovered by a high ranking member of the Order, Alexander Silvan, who saw not a Hobgoblin before him in that moment but a child; scared and scarred. He spared Verkās life and adopted him, raising him to follow his footsteps into the paladin Order and giving him his new name.
Lazarus does not resent the Order or his adoptive father for the destruction of his original home, instead seeing his life as a second chance, an opportunity to do great good, to be more than what he could have been. He devoted himself to his training and the worship of Torm, god of courage and self-sacrifice. Now having been sent out on his first quest, Lazarus is eager to prove that he deserves the Orderās trust and respect.
NOTES: Lazarus was the result of wanting to make a monster race player characters. I wanted to make the typical knight in shining armor, the white knight trope ⦠then make him a monster, you know, for fun. Leading a life of constantly proving yourself is taxing on Lazarus, who deals with the internal conflict of his birth against what he was raised to stand for.
