#verify mobile

Two features that has been asked often from us and one that we all internally really needed are finally here:

1) Support for the iPhone 6 and 6 plus. 

We all know how successful the new big iPhones have been - so now see addappt in really cool and crisp images and if you and your friends have photos, you are going to love this update! 

Since the big phones do make photos pop, we have made it easier to change your photo on your ‘Me’ (and consequently on all your friends’ phones) - an easy way to manage your selfie on your friends’ phones!  Just tap on your own photo that you see up above on the screen as soon you get to the ‘Me’ tab [See image below]

For Android and iOS 

We focus a lot on privacy and safety of our users and prioritize it to ‘growth’ of our business. We used the verified email for finding and connecting you with your friends but it was very limiting. 

For example, many of us:

1) have more (or only) mobile numbers than emails in our phone’s address book 2) have a work and many personal email. Personal emails by themselves are few - we have old ones that we have stopped using for example. 3) share work email with colleagues and personal emails with friends & family

Now with this new update, we address all of these scenarios so if you verify your mobile number and at least a work and personal email, you will be able to find and connect with more friends easily.

Quick facts on verifying multiple properties:

1) By default, the app does NOT SHARE any new piece of data that you verify. 2) To stop sharing any piece of data that you have verified and shared, tap on the ‘chevron’ (right arrow within a circle)/your name up above along your photo > see the details about yourself that you are sharing and then tap ‘edit’ on the top right to simply delete what you do not wish to share. That piece of data will not be shared yet continued to stay verified. If you change your mind, simply go the ‘Me’ tab and tap ‘Share’ against that piece of information you wish to share again. Why would I wish to verify and not share? We have all been there - an old personal email abandoned because it got hacked, it was not meeting your requirements, you got locked out of it or you just wanted to start fresh.

But this old email was what you shared with many for years and since updating your friends with your new email (or mobile) is hard (unless one is using addappt 😀), some of our friends continue to have the old email. 

But we do want to find them and update them with our latest information - if verified, addappt would use it to find them and enable you to connect with them but not share your old email with your new/old friends moving forward.

Why should I verify at least one work and one personal email?

Many of us share our work email with colleagues and personal email with friends and family. Verifying one of each will enable you to find more people you know and connect with them.

How do I get started to verify my mobile number and other emails?

iOS:

1) Tap on the ‘Me’ tab below 2) tap the ‘verify’ buttons for mobile and follow the instructions to receive your verification code 3) tap ‘verify’ for your email if you share more than one email. To verify a new email which you have not shared (or do not wish to share), simply tap on ‘Verify another email address’

Android 1) Tap on your own contact from anywhere - from the home screen ‘Me’ (as shown below) or from the list view of all your contacts listed up on the very top top 2) tap the ‘verify’ buttons for mobile and follow the instructions to receive your verification code 3) tap ‘verify’ for your email if you share more than one email. To verify a new email which you have not shared (or do not wish to share), simply tap on ‘Verify another email address’
