Velafrons is a Lambeosaurin known from the Cerro del Pueblo Formation near Coahuila, Mexico, making it one of the few non-avian dinosaurs known from Mexico. It lived about 72 million years ago, in the Campanian age of the Late Cretaceous. It is known from a mostly complete skull and a partial skeleton from a juvenile, which was similar to the juveniles known from Corythosaurus and Hypacrosaurus. It furthermore was found to be fairly closely related to Amurosaurus in phylogenetic analyses. The skull of this juvenile, however, was not entirely proportional with the skulls found in other Lambeosaurins, indicating that it either had a smaller crest, a different crestal growth pattern, or potentially was all around bigger than those other dinosaurs - unusually large, like other hadrosaurids found in Mexico such as Kritosaurus and Magnapaulia.

I really like any Hadrosaur with a crest, but I’m boing to be a little cheesy and say Velafrons coahuilensis is my favorite. It’s not only got a cool crest, it’s also Mexican! Like me! : D
