This sketch of West Virginia’s Vegetable Man was drawn by witness Jennings Frederick. Frederick reported to have seen the creature in July of 1968 while he was hunting for groundhogs. He claimed to have heard a high pitched sound coming from around him, saying it sounded like when someone plays a recording at a quick speed. It was then that he heard a voice in his head saying "You need not fear me. I wish to communicate. I come as friends. We know of you all. I come in peace. I wish medical assistance. I need your help!"
Frederick was then grasped by enormous hands with fingers that ended in needle sharp points. The arms, however, he noted were no bigger around than a quarter. When the creature grabbed him harder, and drew blood, Frederick cried out in pain. The monster startled, its golden eyes turning red. It ran off into the distance, leaving Frederick standing in shock. The man made his way back home, and knew that no one would believe his encounter. After a few months, he told his friend Gray Barker, who went on to write about it in his newsletter in 1976.
