Inspired by Nashville hot chicken, these vegan tofu nuggets are spicy, crispy, and flavorful. These nuggets are excellent as an appetizer, a main course, or a snack. For an enticing flavor, they are tossed in a tart hot sauce and coated in a spicy seasoning.
Ingredients: 1 block extra-firm tofu, pressed and cut into nuggets. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 tablespoon paprika. 1 tablespoon garlic powder. 1 tablespoon onion powder. 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper. 1 cup plant-based milk. 1 tablespoon hot sauce. 2 tablespoons vegan butter. 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 1 tablespoon pickle juice. Salt to taste. Oil for frying.
Instructions: In a bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. In another bowl, combine plant-based milk and hot sauce. Dip tofu nuggets into the milk mixture, then coat them with the flour mixture. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry coated tofu nuggets until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. In a small saucepan, melt vegan butter. Stir in maple syrup and pickle juice to make the hot sauce. Once tofu nuggets are fried, brush them with the hot sauce mixture. Serve hot and enjoy!
