vbros beach day wip
Shower and before bed thoughts:
Hatred is such a funny character but as we all know comedy is in essence tragedy…he’s actually pretty miserable. So much that it makes me a little sad and wants to give him a hug.
I felt so much compassion for him, for how ashamed he is of himself and how much he wanted to change. There were so many jokes related to his *that thing we all dislike* in the show that made me go “damn that’s so bad”, but when he ran to Rusty begging he to kill him because he couldn’t live with himself anymore - don’t get me wrong, it was hilarious but after laughters and all it kinda hit hard.
Having personally experienced sth like “I feel so much shame and hate for myself that I’d rather cease to exist.” And having been given up by others though having already tried to become a better person, I just understand deeply how painful that would be.
It’s understandable that a lot of people dislike this character for his deeply problematic past, because I know how that could be triggering to certain people, so that’s fine and I’m not trying to argue with it. Where my love for this character is coming from is actually the fact that the part of myself that resonates with him (going through the pain of shame, trying to change) wants to be loved too. And probably so do others who are in a similar position as me.
*well, bottom line is we draw a clean line between fiction and reality. Hatred is loveable because he’s a fictional character who went through the journey of redemption. We can love him without justifying *that thing we all dislike*, just like people can love Homelander in the Boys without supporting murder irl, you know?*
. Hello Courtney.
I forgot that there were arms in the original photo
