Commission for @glaucophane Thanks for commissioning me!
For Xaphias: what if Kudrelke was KIA in Tanaan or the Broken Shore? For Vastania: what if her parents were still alive (or, if they are still alive, what if they died?)
The first one is easy, if depressing: Xaph would carry on for Lila’s sake, but he’d be devastated. The entire reason he was so quick to marry Kudrelke is because his last partner was taken away from him after 80 years of loyal, but never formally recognized, companionship. His worst nightmare after Lila being hurt and/or killed is for the same to happen to his husband, because he knows he’s not strong enough to make it through another sudden loss as himself. He’d stop smiling so easily, his passion for life would be diminished, and he wouldn’t feel the sense of completeness that his family brings him now.
Vas is a little more complicated, because she has one living parent (her mother, Oriyaa) and one deceased parent (Maar). Currently, she’s not too happy with this arrangement, because her mother is a strict, scary authoritarian and a political powerhouse in main-timeline Shattrath. They don’t see eye-to-eye much, and haven’t spoken to each other in years. Vas blames her for not being able to save the rest of their family, and Ori thinks her daughter should be more grateful that she was able to save her hide.
If Maar was the one to survive, Vas would probably be less of a miserable person than she is. He was an eccentric, a sculptor and artificer who could never stay invested in just one craft for too long. But even though he was whimsical and a bit of a scatterbrain, he loved all three of his daughters and made no effort to hide it. She was extremely close to him, and acted as sort of a surrogate mother to her younger sisters while Oriyaa was busy with her duties as an anchorite. Vas has always regretted that she didn’t inherit any of his artistic vision and ability, but she never regretted living with him and her sisters during their time on Draenor. If he lived instead of Oriyaa, she would have the kind of family connections she’s been mourning for the better part of 40 years.
Music Monday: Work This Body - WALK THE MOON
Vas has one philosophy that isn’t explicitly religious: “Bodies are meant to move.” She hates sitting in one place for any length of time, and usually spends whatever free time she gets with a training dummy. Workaholic is an understatement.
Playing with an art concept: My characters as they would appear in the Tales series of JRPGs. Featuring:
Oversized tabards!
Actual neck protection!
Racing stripes!
Tights for everyone!
So I’m starting out with Vas in a more Abyss-influenced style. Definitely pulled a lot of elements from Asch and Van for this one, but she still has parts from the floaty Tier 17 Paladin set. I decided that she should have sabatons that match her pauldrons, so they got extra floaty armor pieces, too.

Music Monday: トーチ [Torch] by BUMP OF CHICKEN
Vastania hasn’t really had her head in a good place for about six months, now. She was dismissed from the Hand, “adopted” by a group of people she still doesn’t fully trust, nearly cut ties with her best friend, and is currently being hunted by her own mother.
But for all of this, she still has faith in the Light. No matter how bad it’s gotten, she still reaches out for the divine. She knows her situation is imperfect, that she is imperfect, and that while she hasn’t handled things well, she can ultimately strive to be better.
The Light is a torch for her in this time of darkness. Though it cannot illuminate her path entirely, it lets her see far enough to not totally lose her way.
TMI Tuesday
I have a bit of time before I go under, so toss me some character questions. If I don’t get to them now, I’ll try to get to them after I come out of anesthesia.
Taking questions for Vastania, Xaphias, Lilavati, and Oriyaa.
TMI Tuesday
I finally have some time to myself, so gimme all the questions you've been saving up for a month. I'll be taking questions for: Xaphias and/or Lilavati, the Draenei brewer and his 4-year-old daughter Vastania, Vindicator and former agent of the Hand of Argus Oriyaa, senior Anchorite, Vas' mother, and a real piece of work
