Enjoy the nutty aroma and delicate crunch of these traditional Sicilian Sesame Cookies. They're easy to make and perfect for sharing with family and friends. A delightful blend of sesame seeds, butter, and vanilla make these cookies a unique and delightful treat.
Ingredients: 1 cup sesame seeds. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1/4 cup milk. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. Pinch of salt.
Instructions: Set the oven to 350F 175C and heat it up. Toast the sesame seeds over medium-low heat in a dry skillet until they are golden brown and smell good. Leave to cool. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl with a whisk. Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in another bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Mix the milk and vanilla extract into the butter mixture until everything is well mixed. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix them together until a dough forms. Spread the toasted sesame seeds out evenly in the dough by folding them in. You can make balls out of small pieces of dough. Put the balls on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it. Use the back of a fork to gently flatten each ball to make a crisscross pattern. After the oven is hot, bake the cookies for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden. After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way down. The Sicilian Sesame Cookies are ready to eat once they have cooled down.
