Business Trips as a Vegan, Continued!
Again, London! One of the best places for Vegans, with many different choices such as in Berlin, New York or San Francisco.
This time, I had again the chance to visit Vantra, an entirely vegan restaurant. The competence of this restaurant regarding plant-based nutrition, veganism, and especially raw vegan dishes, is unparalleled. In every single meal, there is so much creativity; especially how ingredients are combined, how they support each other regarding their nutritional value, and how the creation is presented. Furthermore, you feel that the food was prepared with peace, love and dedication. It’s perfect for lunch; you always have à la carte and buffet options. The atmosphere is also lovely for dinner. But in case you are looking for a glass of wine to accompany your dinner, this restaurant won’t be able to offer that for you.
And I had the chance to eat at Vanilla Black, often named as one of the top ten vegetarian/vegan restaurants in London, also recommended by Michelin. I loved the atmosphere, the wooden style; it’s perfect for business, and it should also be a lovely location for a private dinner. Interesting that they have two menus, a vegetarian, and a vegan menu. Even more interesting (in my opinion) that I had to ask for the vegan menu which turned out to be much smaller than the vegetarian one. However, in every single dish, you feel the high level of ambition when it comes to food combination, presentation, and decoration. Everything I had was tasty, delicious, and very creative, including the well-selected wines, and the excellent bread selection as an appetizer.
The only thing I’d recommend changing is this: offering a few plant-based milk options. I could only choose between soya milk and soya milk. In my opinion, that’s a missed opportunity. So many people (including me) don’t want to consume soya products for various reasons. And meanwhile, there are plenty of nut-based milk options or even rice or oat milk available. And most of them can easily be made at home. So, that shouldn’t be a problem in a restaurant.
Overall, from a vegan perspective, it was a delicious and inspiring trip that inspired me in many ways. And from a business perspective, it was a very successful short trip.
