Thoughts
As we are heading into the new year reflections are made on the past year. The year for me started on a low. No job and no direction in my life. I was at a crossroads. Before long it started to look up, I got a new job but that wasn't without a few bumps in the road ending in me leaving that job too. Then in May it all started to turn around for the better, a job opportunity literally landed in my lap that was perfect for me. Here was a job that I really loved and I really wanted to do. Things were going great. Then #Vancon15 happened. I made some wonderful memories this year at #Vancon15 that will stay with me for a very long time. I met some incredible new friends from all over the world and shared some special moments with some special people. That convention changed so many things for me. The thought of going it alone went from being absolutely terrifying to ending up being very liberating and the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I learnt very quickly that although I went alone I was never truly alone. Fandom is such a wonderful thing to be part of. I learnt so many things about myself that week. #Vancon15 gave me the courage to go to a foreign country alone and embrace it, because of that I'm now going to another convention at the last minute alone and I honestly cant wait for it. Cant wait to meet more new people and visit a new country. I've been to concerts by two incredible artists and joined them on a pub crawl and have another concert by them lined up for January with friends I didn't have when the year started. So as I say goodbye to you I’m excited, excited for the adventures that are waiting for me in 2016. 2015 you've been a good year to me.
