This week we’re featuring our dedicated housing staff on Tumblr!
Molly Schaller is a nursing major from Onalaska, Wis. She’s a Resident Adviser in Concert House in Van Antwerp Hall.
“The extraordinary nature surrounding Northern and Marquette brought me here to visit,” Schaller said. “And the warm, welcoming community made me decide to stay.“
Schaller said she cannot wait to connect with all the new students in the fall. She enjoys being able to assist the students’ transition into college and watch their successes, as well as help guide them when they are in need.
As a returning student, Schaller advises incoming students to keep an open mind. It wasn’t long ago that she, herself, was in their place. In fact, her favorite memory at NMU happened her freshman year here.
"On a cold February night, I went Northern Lights hunting with some friends,” Schaller said. “We went out to Presque Isle, and when we arrived, it was just outstanding. The lights were bright, vivid and dancing for us! The curtains opened and closed and moved graciously across the sky. It is still so incredible to be able to see them from Marquette, to be able to see them at all. It is not something everyone gets to experience in their life.”
This school year, Schaller is excited for both the fun and the challenges that lie ahead. She said she wants her residents to know that she’ll be there to support them and be with them as they follow their endeavors.
“Northern is, simply put, amazing,” Schaller said. “I would not trade my time here for anything!”
