(part 5)

Now, people have already meta’d that this speech is at least 1/2 meant to be for Cas.  Since the clowns will not allow this then we get this instead.

“That night that I came for you...”  This part is about Steve aka human Cas.

Now, in this scene our actors get one final display of their prowess.  Even if the characters can’t have their ending, the actors can have one last chance to show us their talent.

Dean, ‘it’s always been you and me’, this is like what Billie says to Dean before Cas confesses his love.

‘I can’t do this alone’.

I'm gonna be with you sounds like, ‘I wanna be with you’, which is something he could’ve said to Cas.

This is our last pageant of Sam and Dean drama where we get to see our actors show not just how much Sam and Dean have grown but how much they’ve both grown as actors.  This is a kindness to our actors, or a way to show respect: the finale may be a dumpster fire but you guys get to show us your chops and show this angst one last time.  To Supernatural fans this may feel a bit shallow for two reasons: 1) we’ve already see this happen a bunch of times, and 2) no one stays dead on spn so the idea that ‘no, guys, this is really the one’, is still a bit hard to believe.

I mean I cried anyway like I've said before I'm not a monster: these guys cry, these guys die, I cry.  But it doesn’t mean that I don’t think this, by now, has become a stock death scene between the brothers.  When Dean dies at the end of season 4?  That really hit me, this feels played out as much as I love this acting but it’s a mandatory one last death for the guys.

Dean didn’t think it would end this way (the finale) but it is.  And that’s okay.  We all know it sucks that it’s ending this way but we must tell each other and ourselves that it’s okay.  Because it’s actually so sad to see them not get their end.  Sam says it’s okay.  He’s lying, they’re both lying.  It’s not okay for Dean to die this way, it’s not okay for him not to get his ending.  And for Sam not to get his ending either.

Dean dies.

(part 2)

Dean jokes about his, ‘destiny’, being pie but also he has, ‘no choice’.  This could be commentary that the writers can’t help but do this finale this way.  Also though it reminds us of what his destiny was really meant to be aka what should follow from their story.  He cries because it’s beautiful.  This is humourous but also a mockery of what should've happened.  Something beautiful that’d make you cry.  (Dean reuniting with Cas, Sam reuniting with Eileen.)

‘Sad Sam’, is thinking about Cas and Jack, Dean (with pies) acknowledges that he also feels pain.  But, they need to keep on living.  This episode could still go well, up until this point.  The pie in the face could be a little homage to the role humour has had on the show.  This seems benign to me up until this point.

A dad answers the door and is killed by vampire clowns.  Now, these guys are actually scary, imo, and there’s a real sense of horror, here.  If these villains represent, ‘the network’, or whatever else is destroying their finale from the inside out, then the fact that they’re vampires, blood suckers, leeches and also clowns, idiots, assholes, is very fitting.  They're coming to get two boys who are clearly mirrors for Sam and Dean, these assholes are here to take away Sam and Dean from us but also from their own story.

So, the dad was drained of his blood (like the show) and the mom has no tongue (like the writers and people on the show).  Other people, sorry, I can’t remember who, have already pointed out the poignancy of the tongue being ripped out: the surviver is silenced.
