Part two of my Fellowship comics, I hope my handwriting is legible
I'll be tagging the series with "#cyborg fellowship" so you can see them all in one place ^^
I think that Nilvan and Valteil wouldn't get along, not only because Valteil is a misogynist but because in my story for them she is a seer and she took Valteil's spot as their leader's (Francois) advisor... Perhaps I'll illustrate that in another vignette in the future 😗
何が描きたかったのかわからなくなっちゃった
本当に可愛いコイツ ありえない
#noticing how Nashrah doesn't hate on Nosramus or Nilvan 🧐
If there is one thing i need in the world is more Valteil slander

If i could i would pick up one of the embryos from fear&hunger and i would throw it against the wall. Or use it as a basketball. Throw that shit on Valteil its his fault
What you don't know can't be solved, don't you fret
Assuming, of course, that there is no official statement linking the Harvestman and Valteil.
Personally, I don’t strongly believe either way that it was or wasn’t created by Val.
It’s just that, well… you may not have known this, but I actually like Val, so I do sometimes imagine what might have happened if he really did create it.
If the Harvestman was created by Val, the strange thing is that you can obtain a soul from it.
Among Valteil’s creations, the only ones you can get souls from are the Embryos.
I think that is because the Embryos were born from Valteil, but they were not something Valteil “created” in the artistic or artificial sense.
Valteil wanted to create new living beings, but the Embryos were not born through Valteil’s own original method. They were born through the old human method of reproduction, an entirely un-new way of creating life.
To me, that represents a double defeat for Valteil.
The first defeat is that they prove he yielded to physical pleasure.
The second is that the souls he could never manage to create himself could be produced almost too easily through an “old” method.
This is getting a little away from the Harvestman, but since I’m already here, I might as well talk about that too.
I personally think the first Embryo was, at least at first, something Valteil did not intend to create.
After all, Valteil did not want to become the father of one specific child. He wanted to become the father of all of a new humanity.
As a side note, if Valteil had succeeded in creating life, I think he probably would have tried to wipe out the old humans with his own children… which is very cute, right? 笑
From the time Valteil became a god to the time he hanged himself, I think his condition can be divided into three broad stages:
First, the period when he was energetically absorbed in his research.
Second, the period when he reached a dead end, became frustrated, and escaped into physical pleasure.
Third, the period when he abandoned even that and fell into a depressed state. Considering that the mannequins are decayed in present-day Ma’habre, I think it is reasonable to assume that the later Valteil had even given up on pleasures of the flesh.
So, if the Harvestman was Val’s work, I imagined it as something he made between stages two and three.
And I don’t think it was the result of a serious attempt to create a new living being. Rather, I imagined it as something like Valteil lashing out: taking an existing human he had captured, modifying them, and giving them the most grotesque appearance and behavior possible.
In other words, my idea was that you can obtain a soul from him because the original human he was made from had a soul.
This is how I imagine it.
Valteil, in a self-destructive state, looked down at a human the Lord of Flies had captured for him. Val was irritated. His failed son had brought him another piece of trash again.
It was something Val himself had ordered him to do, but that did not matter to Val. He no longer had the energy to think of anything new.
The previous one had annoyed him, so Val had stabbed him over and over with a knife and thrown him away.
Should he do the same this time?
The man was bound to an operating table, looking up at Val with fear and awe.
Then Val suddenly felt the urge to take out his frustration on him. He came up with the idea of modifying him into the ugliest form imaginable. At the same time, he could create a being that would inflict as much fear and pain as possible on other victims.
Perhaps that gave Valteil the slightest bit of comfort during the painful, stagnant period he was trapped in.
Seeing his new creation go out in search of victims, as grotesque and ruined as possible, maybe Val laughed for the first time in a long while.
…Well, that is more or less how I imagined it.
It is only my personal imagination, of course. There are many different ways to think about it, and honestly, I’m not especially attached to my own interpretation on this point either.
There may be some sources I don’t know about, and it’s also possible that I missed something in the game.So if I say anything that contradicts existing lore, I’d be happy if you could let me know.
Additional note:
If Val really did modify someone like that, I think he may have felt an almost sexual excitement while completely ruining a human being.
I personally think he has a sexually sadistic side…
I’d love to talk about that someday too笑
