Well thank Primus I made a really happy ending AU🙄😔

so i’m a grant writer in behavioral health, right? basically my job is i talk to direct service ppl about funding that’s available and projects they want to do in the future (this is important) that might meet the funding requirements.

sometimes the funding requirements ask us to do things we don’t already do/wouldn’t do normally. like track certain outcomes or require certain trainings etc.

so in meetings with direct service ppl i say “hey, there’s this requirement we don’t currently meet, how would we go about meeting it?” and we brainstorm and come up with something.

then i go ahead and write the proposal, making sure all the stuff we don’t currently do is in the future tense (ie “We will track housing outcomes following discharge by doing XYZ.”) i don’t necessarily say “We don’t currently track housing outcomes” because it just sounds kind of bad, plus the evaluators of the proposal don’t really need to know that unless they explicitly ask about experience. they just need to know we will meet the requirement.

and then i have the direct service folks read the proposal i’ve written to make sure it matches what we talked about

and then! the direct service people will comment things like “we don’t currently track housing outcomes” BITCH! i know! thats why it’s in the FUTURE TENSE. we talked about this.

i love our direct service folks. they do great work. they do a lot more work than me and half of them are probably burnt out so i try to give them as much grace as i can. but it’s just so frustrating sometimes when it seems like they simply do not remember our meetings at all.
