Live Review: Idiom & The Smoking Hearts at Fibbers, York
8th October 2013
Words & Photo: Daniel Mulley
Support: utoXator & The Bastard Sons
utoXator enter the stage and the first two songs nearly did my ears some damage however it was only due to the sound guy obviously having the levels wrong as these guys were musically awesome! I was really suprised by the amount of talent playing to the few people here. utoXator are a well balanced mix of heavy breakdowns, catchy riffs, awesome singing and screaming with quirky off beat timings to break up the songs and add that something extra. If I could introduce you to some really great new music, it would be utoXator!
Last Night Was Awesome
I went to go see this band called Dreamcatcher, who Ive known since i was in year 8 and last night was their album release and they were so good. Their style of musics not what I'd normally listen to but the epic amount of thought and skill that's been put into the layering of their instruments to create the most technical and melodic progmetal was just mind blowing. Everything about them just screamed that what they were doing was just so right for them. But the thing that made the night so awesome was that the band that supported them, Utoxator, were fucking awesome too, and these guys were exactly my type of music. They had the most explosive energy and the music they played was fucking awesome. I think it really makes a night when there's an epic support for an epic band. I'm definitely going to go see them again. -J So yeah if your from Leeds and you like sort of post hardcore punk type music, then go see Utoxator on the 30th March at The Well, and if by any chance your going to go see Glamour Of The Kill on the 2nd April at The Cockpit, you'll see them anyway If you like Melodic Progmetal that will blow your mind go see Dreamcatcher on the 4th April at The Leeds Met Student Union (I think) Ive hyperlinked the bands go have a listen
