10 years of salon life, now over... 2013 -2023

2018 for me was about not being comfortable and stepping up my game.

This year the salon I work in held it's 6th annual hair show (this year it was a full weekend long expo)

And I assisted in classes and taught my own!

So many people learned to flat twist, cornrow, two strand twist and I'm so proud not only of the students and the team I worked with, but of myself.

So just a reminder that oil should be the sealant. Moisturize first with a water based moisturizer then seal with oil.

The BEST moisturizing product I've come across in the past year, and has done wonderfly for literally every texture I've used it on so far, has been Wonder Curl.

It's an aloe based, vegan product line.

I've used it for twist outs, updos, defining curls and for twists, and it does great for allllll.

It's SUPER moisturizing and a little goes a long way foreal. When used for twists or similar styles, even if you take the style down a couple(few) weeks later, your hair should still feel amazing like it was just moisturized.

As for oils I favor more porous ones like grapeseed, almond, sunflower. If anything, I'll add jojoba or heavy oils if need be but I don't like shea or coconut oil much tbh. Jojoba oil is very similar to our natural oils our scalps produce, but it's thick, so its great when mixed with the porous oils because they'll absorb and kind of soften/condition your hair.
