23. a hug that some might consider as ~too long~
When he bursts into the safehouse, Zhang Rishan looks like heās mere seconds away from keeling over. Itās the first time Wu Xie has seen him look so rough and heās about to drag him to the nearest chair when Zhang Rishan locks eyes with Ba Ye.
Now, Wu Xie doesnāt know much about Ba Ye except that he was part of the Mystic Nine and disappeared under mysterious circumstances during an expedition in the tomb the Iron Triangle had been exploring a couple of weeks ago. He had presumed that even if they were not friends, Zhang Rishan and him were at least allies given that Ba Ye and Fo Yeās friendship was just as well-known as Zhang Rishanās devotion for his superior officer.
It doesnāt take long for Wu Xie to re-evaluate his assumptions. The two men havenāt yet reached out for each other when Wu Xie figures that the bond between them must be something akin to the one him and Xiaoge have. Heās never felt it himself, but Pangzi has complained often enough about it for Wu Xie to realise that this feeling of having completely faded away from the two menās world is how people usually feel whenever him and Xiaoge share eye contact.
He has to admit itās slightly awkward, but he doesnāt care enough about others' comfort to stop doing this himself in the future. Heās pretty sure he canāt control it anyway.
It gets even more awkward to stand there watching when Ba Ye more or less throws himself into Zhang Rishanās arms. From this distance, he canāt hear what they say to each other, but he sees the way Zhang Rishanās fingers cling to the fabric of Ba Yeās clothes.
Sees his expression.
Relief is warring with pain and disbelief and it speaks of a fear Wu Xie is intimately familiar with. He still wakes up sometimes convinced that heās only dreamed the past few years and Xiaoge is still out of his reach.
In fact, as he silently bear witness to the two menās embrace, heās gripped with the terror that Xiaoge has disappeared again, even if he can still feel him behind him. Even if they are standing so close together that he can feel his warmth. Yet, right at this moment, it feels like they are worlds apart.
He reaches out to grab at his arm, his irrational panic slowly abating when Xiaoge takes hold of his hand and links their fingers.
āI guess weāll give you both a moment,ā Pangzi announces after clearing his throat. If heās been heard, neither Ba Ye nor Zhang Rishan aknowledge it.
Not that it matters because Pangzi is already pushing them out of the room.
Of course, he notices at once how Xiaoge and him are holding hands and he lets out a not-so-falsely irritated groan.
āOf course youāre-! Iāll just go and find an empty room or something. Come find me when you remember someone is after that guyās ass!ā
He leaves but Wu Xie isnāt paying attention because Xiaoge takes a step into his personal space and itās just so easy to lean into him and press his face in the crook of his neck.
Like this his senses are filled with Xiaoge, as if heās the only thing tangible left in the universe. He doesnāt think it would be too bad if his world was reduced to Xiaoge only.
Heās not sure how long exactly they stay like this until Pangzi ventures back, except maybe that itās a too short eternity. However, he canāt say heās surprised to find that Zhang Rishan and Ba Ye are still lost into each other when they join them again.
Hi! I could be wrong but from the clothes, the hug scene from ep1 should be part of the scene where Yuelou and Yuzhi are sitting and Yuelou points a gun and "shoots" Yuzhi. It should be something that happens in later episodes (so I guess it's all about explaining how they reached that point?). But quite honestly, I very much doubt they are going to keep the scene in whatever episode it should happen š

I think itās related to that storyline ofĀ āshootingā yuzhi but thatās probably in later episodes then because I havenāt seen it yet haha. (And judging from the youtube comments for this clip, a lot of people havenāt see it even though theyāve watched past episode 18...so this hug scene may be taken out completely a;sldfkjsa)
This might sound random, but do you have any 80s music recommendation? Yesterday I spend a couple of hours listening to the music of Stranger Things and now I can't stop o.O. (I mean, besides TNT by AC/DC my knowledge is barely non-existent, hence why my question ajaja).

AC/DC is definitely a good one- up until 1980, they were fronted by Bon Scott, and had a really lovely low, dirty sound.Ā He unfortunately died, and they replaced him with Brian Johnson, who had a good snarly voice and helped bring the sound up to its more arena-filling style.Ā Back In Black is their first album with him on it.Ā Listen to Highway To Hell, with Bon Scott, and then prepare to have your spine cracked like an electrified whip when you first hear Back In Black.
