I don't remember the last time when relationships were depicted so subtly, being woven into the plot. This is definitely not a 'noisy' show, nothing is loud here (apart from justice stuff and thoughts on human nature, well, and fights XD). Like, I'm not crazy about what's happening, but I'm compelled to watch what happens next.

That man freaking ran to Ling Long's aunt's house when he heard she had come back. He's feeling things, alright :D

Then he valiantly offers her to still go away and not deal with this mess and this pain, promising that he would solve it for her /the feels are so real here, I can't even/. But she's already made up her mind to stay and dig to the bottom of this.

She chooses not to run away - the same way Zhan Zhao then persuades Bai Yutang to also stay and not run away from the truth, and find out what actually happened to his brother. It was so wholesome that he continued investigating even when his besties sorta fell apart, each wallowing in their own grief, but he didn't budge, and kept going (it's also pretty much his nature, hellbent on delivering justice to those who are wronged). But it's especially meaningful at this time when it concerns his people.

With his type of character and a strong sense of justice - that must be very painful to see (also makes me wonder about his backstory, how did he end up like this?). When a man like that snaps - that's akin to an end of the world :D And all those corrupt official should be afraid for their lives. I also want to know more about him being a Yaksha, that must have been a 'fun' period in his life XD

The show's feeding us some very good character development stuff. Love it. And also, how pretty much unfazed Zhan Zhao's besties remain about his supposed going on a killing spree XD Like, yeah, he's doing that, but we're trying to save his life here XD I love their vibe so much.

upd. ah, he didn't kill the evil Jin guy after all. wouldn't mind it if he did XD
