i just wanted to say how much I love before the anger. I remember scrolling on webtoon for Undertale comics and finding "after the anger" it intrigued me so I read it and I loved it! and then I read before the anger and it made me so happy reading and re-reading it. I still get excited when new chapters release!

(And, about UA's hiatus? "Secret ending" is eventually coming back, but it will be as an animatic and not a comic... I think. If you haven't noticed, I change my mind very often XD)
Im really glad you like to reread it! I specifically design BTA to encourage re-reading, since I like to add some details that only make sense later.

Sans is very excited to talk about his hyperfixation
This is some weird hybrid of BTA and classic UT. They still look like and have the context of BTA Sans and Papyrus (Sans having spent years hiding on the surface alone), but they act like the classics. Just kinda weird. But I wanted to draw it because I find it fun, even if it doesn't make much sense.
Actually this isn't technically BTA either, it would be more akin to the Secret Ending.

Woah, Gaster! That's a lot of emotion, there! Perhaps this place is opening up some old scars?
Look, it's Dr. Lepidoptera! She's not very important in BTA, but you might recognise her from UA, if you have read it. She doesn't know boundaries very well, does she? That's the first time we've seen anybody touch Gaster, every other time it was him purposefully touching other people (picking up Sans, grabbing Alphys's shoulders, once in a brief flashback when his silhouette holds Siqua's hand, although that was more symbolic than literal). Lepi specifically touched his hands... yikes :)
((âMake yourself comfortable!â The beautiful woman gestured to a chair at her desk, and Alphys sat. Voice trembling, she said, âH-hello, Dr. Archer, I'm⌠D-Dr. Alphys??â The woman laughed; a closed-mouth giggle, âNo need for such politeness! Go ahead and call me Siqua. I have a feeling we will get along just fine. Oh, and don't mind Gasterâs bluntness. Don't tell him I said this, but he's just shy.â))

I am always overwhelmed when reading a new story because I don't know if I'm reading it in the right order or sum. I always wish the creator would tell me where to start⌠So here I am, doing that for you!
If you don't care about all of my many words, just go straight to the end of this post to get the summary.
Which comes first?
Did you know that BTA is actually a trilogy?
Each addition to the series is going to be in a different medium:
1) BEFORE THE ANGER (a comic)
2) UNDER ANGER (a short novel)
3) THE SECRET ENDING (an animatic)
For BTA (1) and UA (2), the order is really up to your personal preference. BTA is technically a prequel of UA, but if you enjoy a linear storyline, read BTA first. If you would rather get the satisfaction of the bits and pieces filled in over time, read UA first. The only thing that matters is that TSE is watched last!
(Being that neither UA or TSE are officially released as of now, you are sort of forced to read BTA first... Sorry!)
Which website is best to read on?
The Secret Ending: Youtube.
UnderAnger: Wattpad and Ao3. Choose based on personal preferences.
Before the Anger: a bit more complicated... (In order of recommendation.)
My Neocities website!!: this is the best place to read BTA since it is my own original format, and with coding I can add many secretsuhh what who said that? However, the website isn't optimized for every device, so I do have other options (also for reach)
Tumblr: a great place to read the BTA comic, since it has all of my notes and information. Hey, you're already here!
WEBTOON: TBH I mainly have this one for convenience and to test things out first XD I can only recommend reading BTA here if you have ALREADY read BTA and want to binge it. Why?: I cannot add any author's notes; ((side stories)) have to be shorter; none of my other resources are available there; and its a poorly made app lol.
YouTube comic dubs: mainly for reach and just funâ they are not meant to be narratively sound.
Which versions are canon?
This series is super old, so it has a few older versions that are no longer canon (old written UA, old UA comic, newer written UA*, and Secret Ending comic). If you want to read these, do not expect anything to make sense, be canon, or even good. Unless you just want to laugh at my old stuff (reasonable, it's very entertaining), reading these versions would be a waste of your time. The ONLY version of this story that is still canon is Before the Anger.
* "Wait that's uncanon??" Most of it is canon, but it's subject to huge changes constantly. The official, fully canon version of UA will only be available around the time BTA endsâŚ. So, a long time.
The index??
In both the Tumblr masterpost AND the Neocities website, there's an index section. It's just extra stuff that's cool to have. Sometimes they tie-in or add to the plot, but they are never essential for the narrative to make sense, to avoid confusion.
However, the ((side stories)) are different. They may seem unimportant, but the occasional short written storylines at the end of episodes often give context to or even DIRECTLY interact with the plot!! It is very important to read the ((side stories)), because you may miss out on some important details for the narrative. (Except for the first ((ss)) because it was just a practice. Very lame.)
IN CONCLUSION, what the best way to read BTA?
Go on my website lol. But if you don't have a computer (or really any 16:9 device), Tumblr is definitely the second best. Go ahead and:
start with the first episode of BTA;
read the ((side stories)) along the way;
look at all the subsections in the index if you want;
and afterward if you want to reread it, just go to WEBTOON.
If you want to hear them speak, go to my YouTube.
If you're in a mood for a laugh, read the old versions.
And FINALLY, once BTA is over, the canon UA will be released! And then the Secret Ending will be slowly added as I finish them!
