Romance is completely pointless.” he shook his head, talking down to me. As I said, Gaster makes horrible company.))

Woah what a coincidence!?? That's crazy!

Happy early birthday then! I hope you have a good time

Do you take your birthday seriously? I always wonder how important people's birthdays are to them. Sometimes people feel INTENSE emotions regarding their birthday (good or bad) but I've never really cared about mine. Anyway, I still think it's nice to give gifts whenever possible.

I made something! You can look on your birthday or rn, no biggie

What should I do to celebrate? Finish the BTA website? (Bold to think I can do that in a week lol) Have a little community thing like the dtiys last year? I don't know!!! Send me an ask, comment on this post or DM me to let me know if you have any ideas cuz I don't!

Or I might do it by season or just not do it at all. Honestly it doesn't matter much lol)

I get the feeling that Toriel gets on Gasters nerves a little bit. Toriel really isn't scared of him, she treats him like a kid since shes so much older than him, she is friendly and enjoys being around people (usually Gaster, since she has no contact with anyone else.) I think Gaster sees her as more of a test subject than anything, since he has to control and keep track of her powers. When he's around her, he enters "scientist mode" and doesn't seem to appreciate her being lighthearted. Gaster lacks sympathy for her situation, or if he does feel sympathy, he doesn't want to show it.

I also think he despises having his work life and home life mix. Hence, why he never formally introduced Sans and Papyrus to Siqua, who is essentially his only friend. He honestly seems disturbed that they know each other. When he sees Sans and Papyrus here, he immediately tells them to go home because he most likely sees Toriel as a part of his "work life". We've seen before that Gaster isn't really "protective" over his kids, so this isn't what he normally would've done. He must trust that Papyrus is genuinely strong enough to fight off dangerous monsters, because the only time he shows any sort of protection over his kids is when he finds Sans by himself without Papyrus nearby. Only then does he personally escort them home. (Where he was heading to anyway.)

Sans seems confused by getting waved at. Papyrus thinks this normal gesture is cool. They must not get friendly interactions with strangers very often.

((I had asked him a similar question before the massacre. I couldn’t fathom taking care of a child on your own, on top of college, and I still can’t. He acted annoyed, but something in him seemed almost giddy to talk about it. “I make time.” He said, and he stopped himself from continuing, as if I would have hit him if he went on for too long. Which, to be fair, I probably would have back then.))

Ooh! Ok! So, I made the concept for BTA/ UA a really long time ago. At that time I had no idea that Sans was canonly the older one— I just thought it was fan speculation! My kid brain said

1) shorter= younger ig,

2) how predictable that the more gullible one is younger! I'll flip the script. 😼

3) UT Sans says that Papyrus "takes care of him" which I took very literally. Like, I knew sans was being kind of ironic when he said it, but maybe he was playing on the irony of the fact that Papyrus is older and has the responsibility of taking care of him, yet seems so irresponsible? Idk I might have been reaching.

Also, at that time, BTA was honestly more of a fellswap AU than anything. Sans was a little more reckless and spoke like how I did at the time (like a middle schooler) and Papyrus was very reasonable and spoke in a more mature tone. Its important to note that at that point, Papyrus had maybe one or two scenes about him? and that was it. Their dynamic wasnt really explored.

(the only scene he's in in the 2020 comic BTA was based off of ⬇️. He said even LESS in the 2019 book version. In the og ORIGINAL 2016-2018 traditional comic, I quit before I made it to the point where he showed up lol.)

Even though I'm now older, and the vibe of this story is almost unrecognizable compared to the older versions, I decided to keep this kind of random and pointless change of canon for a few different reasons.

1) I'm so used to it! I've had this story for about 9 years, and even though I've rewritten it many times, their ages have never changed

2) I've come up with a lot of lore around these two and the order in which they were born/ created is very important.

3) more lore. Mainly the lore thing.

But, I wouldn't say they really view each other as "big brother" and "little brother". That's more of a technicality for them. They both feel protective of each other the way an older sibling would, whichever one was actually created first is unimportant to them. (Though, Papyrus likes to make fun of Sans for... Being young? Classic older sibling shit.)

Though a big difference in their age is due to Papyrus being parentified. Papyrus, in BTA, quite literally has to "take care of sans" even though both of them are of equal intellectual capabilities (sans even possibly being smarter) because Sans is 6 yrs old and very weak, so Papyrus has to protect him. It's good for his ego, though. "The undefeatable great Papyrus will protect you!!" Shit

Today I felt like drawing an oc, so here's your Al! It was inspired by this post.

I came up with a little AU of BTA that will never actually exist. (Except for maybe a few drawings like this) Pretty much, this is a version of the story where everything works out how the characters envisioned. So maybe it's less of an "AU" and more just the character's fantasies.

Sans and Papyrus have been adopted, Alphys gets with Siqua, and they all live happily on the surface. Gaster is... Idk maybe hes the one taking the picture XD

I think in this fantasy, Siqua manages to stay friends with Gaster despite taking his kids lol. Idk if that would even be possible, but this is a fantasy! Anything can happen! Its quite literally named "the perfect ending."

But pretty much im in love with this concept and it actually brings warmth into my heart. Too bad its not real. If it were real, it'd ruin the entirety of the rest of the story. Maybe I can find a way to similarly end it in SE just to put hearts at ease.

Wow I was gonna do this int FOREVER ago! I just never got to it. But now I did!

This Int. is in reference to this episode. It's hard to tell if Gaster was actually successfully gaslit by Chara or if he's just adopted the idea of being a skeleton as some kind of trauma response. Considering how smart Gaster is, it's probably the latter, but he hasn't really shown us if he's at all self-aware yet! Maybe he has no idea that hes a shitty dad, an insufferable person, and only half skeleton. (Wow I'm just DIGGIN in on this guy LMAO)

Sans is pretty smart. He's piecing together the idea that his dad can lie to him for seemingly no reason, and thus questions him more and more. I don't think Papyrus understands that yet. Not to say that papyrus isn't smart!!! He's just not very socially aware. (also, this tells us that Papyrus values Gaster's word higher than his school teachers. This makes a lot of sense! He's a dang royal scientist! Papyrus's relationship with Gaster is very interesting.)

Sans is just now catching on, though. Which is why Gaster would ask "why are you being so persistent?" Because Sans normally isn't persistent. Like Papyrus, he'd usually hear the answer to his question and accept it (after the answer is given, Gaster doesn't like to elaborate, which is why in this int., Sans is quick to explain himself before he gets an answer). But here, Sans pushes for a different answer.

I believe this started when Grillby IV babysat them and he wanted to learn sign language. Even after Gaster explained his reasons for saying no, Sans disagreed. He's currently exploring the idea of "My dad/ teacher is a genius. But what if he was wrong??" Which is definitely not something Gaster wants him to explore lol
