Request— can you do a fic where landos daughter (3-4) is super scared of needles and she has to go get her shots and he helps her through it, thanks!!!!!
Lila had just turned 4 and was due at the doctor for some shots. Lando scheduled the appointment and hadn’t told Lila. She was super afraid of doctors, not to mention needles.
“Alright sweetheart, let’s go.” He said bubbly to her as they walk out the door. He deferred her ‘where are we going’ questions. He buckled her in her seat and drove to the doctor’s office. She admired the trees and scenery as they drive, her little feet kicking lightly.
When he parked at the god forsaken office, her lower lip quivered and tears formed in her eyes. Lando unbuckled her and she crossed her arms. He took her out the seat and held her. “No, daddy, no! They’re going to hurt me!!” She wailed. He readjusted his grip on her but ultimately set her down.
“You can’t go to big girl school if you don’t go sweetheart.” He said. He wasn’t lying, the school needed updated records. “I know how much you want to go.” She whined at him. “Remember how you get a lolly and a sticker after?”
She nodded her head and he stood up, holding her hand as they walk in. They were met with the stale sterile scent and she cowered behind Lando more. He checked her in and was handed a clipboard to fill out.
He sat in a plush chair and sat her on his lap as he filled out her information. “We can call uncle Osc or uncle Los after, how does that sound?” He whispered in her ear, solidifying his words with a kiss. He returned the clipboard and they waited to be called.
When they were, she had a death grip on his jacket. He grabbed his bag and carried her to the exam room. The nurse was playful and sweet to Lila. She was usually fine until the doctor came in with needles and shots. “She’s such a sweet little girl.” The nurse complimented.
Lando smiled and then they were left alone for a while, until the doctor came in and had a tray of nightmares. She looked away and clung to Lando as if he would disappear. He rubbed her back as the doctor talked about what each shot was and where they would go. It was quite simple two in each arm.
“Miss Lila, can you take your jacket off for me?” The doctor asked. She was still facing the wall in Lando’s grip. Lila mumbled a quick ‘no’ into Lando’s shoulder and he pried her away from him.
She brought a hand up to her mouth nervously as Lando accessed her face. “Sweetheart, you have to take your jacket off.” Lando unzipped the jacket and Lila freaked out on him. He got the jacket off the squirming toddler and rolled her sleeves up.
Lila kept repeating ‘no’ over and over as she squirmed in Lando’s grip. He held her still, her arm trapped under his hand as his other hand held her to look away. She was screaming and thrashing in his grip. He whispered sweet nothings as the doctor stuck her with not one but two needles in one arm.
“Shhh, you did so good Lila!” Lando praised in her ear. “Only two more, that’s it, then we can get a lolly and a sticker and call one of your favorite uncles.” He reminded her as the doctor put small bandaids over the achy shot marks. Lando shifted Lila’s head to the opposite side as she continued to scream and squirm in his hold.
The doctor got it over with quickly. “All done, you did so good Miss Lila.” The doctor praised, patching her arm. Lando released his firm grip on her and she relaxed, still feeling the ache of the medicine. She still had tears clouding her vision as Lando soothed her by rubbing her back.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, are you ready for your prizes?” He asked. She weakly nodded her head and he grabbed his bag leaving the exam room. The receptionist was super sweet and let Lila choose a candy and sticker. “Alright, let’s go call uncle Osc and uncle Los, yeah?”
He got back in his car, Lila in the front seat with him as he texted the two men. He forewarned them they might get a call from an upset Lila after a doctor visit so they were not bombarded completely. “Uncle Los.” She mumbled.
“You want uncle Los first?” Lando confirmed. She nodded and sat on the center console as the phone rang. Carlos answered and smiled at the pair.
“Oh my goodness look at you!” Carlos greeted. “Such a brave girl you are.” She giggled and took the phone from Lando.
“Uncle Los, I got a lolly and stickers!” She beamed with excitement, showing him what she got for being so brave. Carlos and Lila talked for a while before she started asking for Oscar.
“Sorry mate, times up.” Lando laughed. Carlos smiled and Lando hung up. He called Oscar and the phone answered, showing Oscar smiling big at Lila. Her cheeks were still tinged pink and her eyes were still glossy from tears.
“Hey bug, did daddy hold you like I told him to?” Oscar smiled. Lila giggled and nodded, she showed Oscar the prizes she got as well. “Look at that! You were so good they gave you gifts!”
“Daddy said I can’t have the Lolly until we get home.” Lila told Oscar. He scoffed and told her Lando was being mean. “Uncle Los said I should have it now too.” Lando laughed and made Lila smile.
“You can’t have the Lolly now, then you won’t be able to show mama you got one!” Lando said through his laughs. “We have to head home now, but tell uncle Osc bye.”
“Bye bye uncle Osc, I miss you!” She said. Oscar repeated the words back to her, using the nickname he gave her. Lando buckled her in the car seat and drove home. Lila was out when they got home, a side effect of the shots and exhaustion from fighting Lando’s grip.
Such sweet uncles 🥰
