Maxim Garin, a 31 year old son of Phobetor.
He is a Tattoo Artist at Marimo Ink.
FC NAME/GROUP: Kim Yukwon/ Block B
CHARACTER NAME: Maxim Garin
AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: 9 April 1992
PLACE OF BIRTH: "Somewhere" in Russia
OCCUPATION: Tattoo Artist at Marimo Ink, Tattoo & Piercing Parlour and Security Guard at Babylon
DEFINING FEATURES:
He bears the marks of a life forged in hardship and defiance. On his lower left side, a 2-inch scar runs surprisingly straight, a relic of a stab wound that serves as a grim reminder of his tumultuous beginnings.
Above the scar, etched into his skin, is a crude yet striking tattoo: a stick figure with a smiley face and four lines representing arms and legs. This caricature, almost childlike in its simplicity, transforms the scar into a macabre symbol of resilience–a stick figure rising from the wound, as if mocking the pain that tried to break him.
Furthermore a tattoo of a snake curling itself around his collarbone has been shaded in just the way that would make it look realistic at first glance. It’s just one of the many artworks adorning his skin at various parts of his body. Most of them were designed and applied by himself.
PERSONALITY:
Maxim is not a man who wears kindness like a cloak. Shaped by a lifetime of betrayal and survival, he learned early on that the world is a battlefield, and he must fight tooth and nail to claim what is his—or even what isn’t.
Thieving, conniving, and cunning are the pillars of his existence, tools he wields with precision to navigate a wolrd that has shown him little mercy.
Though he is not one to fill the air with idle chatter, Maxim is a master of silent communication. His body language speaks volumes–a tilt of his head, a narrowing of the eyes, or a subtle shift in posture can convey more than words ever could. He is a man of action, not words, and his mere presence is often unsettling enough to make people leave a room.
HISTORY:
Maxim’s story begins not with a cradle but with a blade. Born into a world that rejected him before he took his first breath, he is the son of a woman who claimed his father was Phobetor, a god of nightmares. His mother, consumed by fear and desperation, tried to end his life moments after his birth, stabbing him with a pair of scissors. But fate—or perhaps sheer spite—kept him alive.
Abandoned in Russia, Maxim was left at an orphanage, where he spent his earliest years in obscurity. His life took a turn when he was adopted by Victor and Yana Garin, a couple whose home was less a sanctuary and more a prison. The Garin household was a hierarchy of suffering, where the children were either paraded as trophies or worked to the bone. Maxim, labeled as “difficult” by his adoptive parents, bore the brunt of their cruelty. He was punished more harshly, worked more relentlessly, and treated as an outsider by the two people who chose him more often than not. His only solace were his siblings. Nine in total and the most amazing people he’d ever been in the presence of.
It didn’t take long for Maxim to realize that he was unwelcome. His adoptive parents took advantage of his vulnerability, inflicting visible and invisible wounds that left scars on both his skin and his soul. As he grew older, his anger festered, manifesting in acts of rebellion and defiance. He became a thorn in the side of his community, a troublemaker who refused to bow to authority or accept his lot in life.
Maxim’s existence has been defined by spite. He survived his mother’s attempt to kill him, endured the abuse of his adoptive parents, and refused to let the world break him. His driving force is vengeance—a burning desire to confront the parents who abandoned him and make them pay for the life they forced him to endure. The only saving grace he had were his siblings, each uniquely wonderful in their own way and the reason why he stayed.
This quest for retribution led him to Korea, where he uncovered fragments of his mother’s past.
Through a chance encounter with Mrs. Yoo, his mother’s former neighbor, Maxim learned the truth about his origins. His mother had returned from Russia claiming he was stillborn, only to later confess that she had given him up because she believed his father was a god. Her tales of divine nightmares and bad luck earned her the label of the “crazy lady” in her district, and she vanished without a trace.
The only clue Maxim has is a cryptic reference to “the God from Mount Phoenix,” a place that seems to exist only in whispers and fragments of memory. Though the trail is cold, Maxim feels an inexplicable pull toward this mysterious location. It is a thread of hope, however faint, that he clings to as he continues his search for answers—and for vengeance.
PANTHEON:
CHILD OF: Phobetor
POWERS:
He is able to consciously experience other people’s dreams but any dream he ‘enters’ turns into a nightmare, whether he wants to or not. Maxim’s power to induce anxiety into people is rather subpar as he hasn’t explored that ability much.
STRENGTHS:
He is street-smart and cunning.
Very agile and nimble in a fight, and a generally fast runner.
Loyal to the few people trusts.
As he grew up on a farm in a small town, he is good at taking care of and training animals.
WEAKNESSES:
He has a short fuse, and it usually results in violence.
Although he tries to read and learn more now academically, he isn’t the most gifted and oftentimes lacks the attention span. Also somewhat of a slow learner.
He is quite apathetic to many things and generally lacks interest in people. Resulting in this is him being a bad listener. And a bad talker for that matter.
