First time growing turnips. They are coming along nicely and are giving the plot a little pop of colour. . Any recipes ideas for my homegrown turnips? . #turnip #freshgrownfood #growingyourownfood #seeds #ukallotment #allotmentuk #vegpatch #theediblegarden #vegetablegarden #kitchengarden #grownfromseed (at Pampisford Road Allotments) https://www.instagram.com/p/CITtxAqA-7d/?igshid=19oxtpr8l814i
Stunning flowers at the plot. Vanilla marigolds and purple nicotiana. The marigolds are keeping bugs at bay from the tomatoes and the nicotiana is providing food for pollinators. . . #pollination #pollinators #allotmenteersofinstagram #ukallotment #ukallotments #vegpatch #citygarden #allotmentblogger #allotmentblog #londonallotments #allotmentuk #allotmentgarden #allotmentlove #allotmentlife #allotmentjourney #allotmentflowers #nicotiana #marigolds (at Pampisford Road Allotments) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDOaAOCAtbK/?igshid=agbbg89wjnw3
9th June: Peas, potatoes and partially eaten broccoli!
A sea of green greated me today at the plot. The cauliflowers are getting huge, the early potatoes are almost ready to pull up and the peas are ripening in their pods.
I have lost 80% of my broccoli to aphids but that’s all part of the fun of allotmenting. Check out pic 2 on the right hand side at the back. Poor sad looking broccoli 😂. I have plenty more growing in the greenhouse, along with…

Aren't I Cute-cumber?
Aren’t I Cute-cumber?
I have never been brave enough to try growing cucumbers but this year I thought I’d give it a go. I planted Cucumber (ridge) ‘Market more 76’, brought from Mr Fothergill’s. I sowed then in March in little plugs indoors on the windowsill. They needed to be kept warm to encourage germination. Within a few weeks I saw a sprouting plant pop up through the plug.
Within a few more weeks, it was…

8th June: growing in the rain!
With the aid of a little bit of rain, the crops have come on leaps and bounds. Cauliflower ‘all year round’ are all producing florets, the ‘shiraz’ mangetouts are producing pods of brilliant purple and the tomato plants are flowering.
My garlic didn’t do well this year. Its disappointing when you start something from a small plant in October the previous year and get a tiny garlic 9 months…

Winter 2019- Spring 2020
When I was assigned my allotment plot in Nov 2019, to say I was excited would be an understatement!! I have grown up hearing stories of my Grandpop’s allotment at the church and watching my Mum grow fruits, courgettes and runner beans in the veg patch in my childhood home. I now have an opportunity to try and grow as much as possible from seeds and start my allotment journey. I am under no…
