They ended up creating a surprisingly consistent background lore for the Universal Century series of Gundam. In other words, from a Doyalist perspective Mobile Suits necessitated the Particle, but from a Watsonian perspective the Particle necessitated the Mobile Suit.
Incidentally, the terms āWatsonianā and āDoyalistā refer to the two viewpoints of a work, Watsonian being the In-Universe perspective and Doyalist being the meta, out of universe perspective.
