Dialogue Comparison Ruggie Cozywear 🍩
A gender-neutral sentence had "her" added in EN:
Original Ruggie: ...pre-debut pictures of a super-popular idol...
EN Ruggie: ...pictures of an idol from before her major debut...
Dialogue Comparison: Happy Popcorn (pt1): no significant changes, just a small note 🍿
Original Title: Pop! Happy Popcorn #Welcome to C&D Diner! EN Title: Popcorn Panic @ Crisp ‘n’ Dips!
Early on in the event, Idia uses the word モフ three times. The first two times were localized as “fluffy” and “fuzzy” on EN, with the third time written as “furry.”
This resulted in the following line in the EN Game:
Original Idia: It’s a familiar old folktale among people who like fluff……who like animals. EN Idia: It’s mostly well-known to furry–uh, i mean, animal fans.
Bonus: On the topic of the Savanaclaw characters, Malleus’ VA Kato Kazuki said “I would like to fluff their ears and tails (laughs),” using the same word: モフ (mofu). Interview translated here ▶︎
In the last part of chapter 7 Lilia says the same thing to Malleus that Malleus said to Silver about children crying.
And EN took.
It.
Out.
Hello hello, thank you so much for this information!! ⚔️🦇🐉
Did not make this connection to the beginning of Book 7 📝 It really is Lilia speaking to Malleus as Malleus spoke to Silver--so interesting!! Thank you again!
Original/EN Malleus: All children cry. Original Lilia: All children cry. EN Lilia: It's okay to cry.
※Note: Maybe EN is uncomfortable with Lilia referring to the rest of Diasomnia as children? Also changed in the same scene:
Original Lilia: ...but you are all still only children. EN Lilia: ...now that you were all grown up...
New correction noticed on EN, Book 4:
Mistaken Prefect (Before): Because you two have served him for so long?
Corrected Prefect (After): Because you have served him for so long?
The original dialogue box sounds as though both Jamil and Kalim are servants for an unspecified third person, corrected to Jamil alone being the servant to Kalim.
More EN-server corrections compiled here!
There was an important change made to Trey and Riddle on EN that has since been corrected to match Trey’s original dialogue, but if you have

Dialogue Comparison: Eternity Float (pt1): Small world-building changes, maybe interesting information for language learners and of Rook's nickname for EN players 🐦
Original Title: The Coral Sea's Eternity Float EN Title: Trials of Rowmance
Original Event: Eternity Float EN Event: Forever Float
(This is not a different interpretation of a Japanese-language word for forever/eternity: the original game is using the English-language word "Eternity.")
Original Azul: Floyd, at least, had forgotten until yesterday when I brought up the overnight-stay request I approved 6 months ago.
EN Azul: Floyd, at least, had completely forgotten about said sojourn until I brought it up yesterday.
Original Riddle: At this rate there will not be enough attendees as required by the rules, and the ceremony will be ruined......you kept lamenting endlessly right in front of me while I was trying to study, so I had no choice but to agree.
EN Riddle: You kept moping in front of me about how the ceremony will be ruined because attendance is too low to meet rule requirements...until I grudgingly relented and agreed to go.
Original Game: Moray eels? EN Game: Morays eels have legends?
For the curious: Georgina Leech refers to her sons as "Jade-san" and "Floyd-san."
Jade refers to the students as his "best friends" in the original game, using a word (親友) that only four other characters have ever said: ・Kalim (about Jamil) ・Deuce (about the prefect) ・Cater (about Trey) ・Lilia (about Raverne)
More here ▶︎
Jade says "friends" on EN but he is actually one of the 11 characters who has never referred to any other NRC student as a friend (if the "best friend" word explained above is counted separately). His original dialogue is, "everyone."
More here ▶︎
In both the original game and on EN Rook gives a detailed explanation on how seagulls and black-tailed gulls are different:
Q: Why did Georgina dress him as a black-tailed gull when his nickname is seagull? A: It isn't! Floyd's nickname for Rook (umineko) is "black-tailed gull" 🐦📝
"Black-tailed gull" is umineko, which is literally "sea cat," confusing Grim and leading to small dialogue adjustments on EN:
Original Grim: Hm? Isn't that a seagull on that necklace? There's no cats on it.
EN Grim: Huh? Those thingies on his necklace just look like regular ol' birds to me.
Original Rook: No, this is a black-tailed gull. Black-tailed gulls are seabirds that quite similar to seagulls. A beautiful bird with colors just like this outfit: white from head to collar, with black backs and wings.
EN Rook: This is indeed based on the black-tailed gull— a beautiful bird that is white from head to collar, with black tailfeathers and wings. Though similar in appearance to their more common gull kin, what truly sets the black-tailed variant apart is its distinct mewing call.
Original Grim: A cat but a bird......I can't tell which it is, and it's all confusing.
EN Grim: What sorta bird meows? That's just confusin'.
Dialogue Comparison, Book 7.5 (pt1): Unique Magic lore, Kalim's politeness, naming continuity, Grim, food, Leona and Lilia
Original Cater: When my unique magic had only just manifested, I could only make one clone. EN Cater: Back when I first manifested my signature spell in my fresher days, I could only make one clone.
EN seems to be stating that Cater’s unique magic manifested in his first year at NRC, but this has not been canonically confirmed: it is possible that Cater became capable of using his unique magic before, during or after his first year at the school.
As is customary for Kalim’s speech patterns (more here ▶︎) he does not make requests from Jamil, or say please, with his dialogue made more polite for EN:
Original Kalim: Help me write it. EN Kalim: Help me fill ’em out, will you?
Original Kalim: Talk like you normally do. EN Kalim: Please talk like you normally do.
Original Kalim: J-Jamil~~ come on. Quit using keigo! EN Kalim: J-Jamil, please. Just…stop talking all deferential and stuff!
Meleanor’s home, Wildrose, was renamed 剣の国 (lit: country of sword(s)) after being seized by Silver’s ancestors.
In Book 7 EN server localized the name of Silver’s father’s kingdom as “Bladevale,” but in Book 7.5 it was changed to “Swordvale.” The original name of the land, 剣の国, is unchanged, making this less so a canonical adjustment to lore and maybe moreso a continuity error on EN.
EN will consistently change “salisbury steak” to “hamburger” on EN, with one exception during the Nightmare Before Christmas event when the word was translated directly.
In Book 7.5 there is a scene of Leona eating two salisbury steaks, rewritten as two hamburgers for EN.
Leona will use the word 嫌われ者 to refer to both hyaenas of olden days and to himself, where EN translated it as “pariahs” for hyaenas, but removed it from Leona’s dialogue where he talks about being a hated prince.
The word was translated as “despised” in the EN manga and “loathed” in the EN novel. In 7.5 it was written as “unpopular.”
While that is not technically an incorrect localization of the word, it has lost the reference to Leona’s pre-overblot monologue and the hyaenas.
During Book 7.5 Lilia canonically refers to Silver as his son for the first time in the game, after submitting his adoption paperwork, but it was second time for EN-server players: Lilia calling Silver his son was added to Lilia’s dialogue during the Spectral Soiree event.
Changes Made to the English-Language Adaptation of Twisted Wonderland the Novel, 2: Usurper from the Wilds
Chapter 12 (pt2)
Original Novel: "Leona towers over Ruggie, but Ruggie glowers at him all the same. Ruggie lifts his head, exposing a prominent bruise upon his throat. I haven't forgiven you, you know.'"
EN Novel: "Ruggie glared at Leona. 'Don't think you've earned my forgiveness,' he said."
Original Novel: "'A stone?' Yuuya looks around. 'No, I haven't seen one.' Perhaps it is something that the headmage dropped somewhere. Yuuya asks if they ought look for it, but the headmage waves him off with, 'In that case it's no matter,' and walks away."
EN Novel: ""A black stone?' Yuya asked, looking around. 'No, I don't see anything.' Yuya asked if they should look for it, but Crowley shrugged casually. 'If you haven't spotted it, that's fine,' he replied as he walked off."
Original Novel: "Leona walks at a slower pace, bringing up the rear. Yuuya does not intend to speak with him; he simply worries that Leona may collapse at any moment."
EN Novel: "As they walked back to the coliseum, Yuya peered at Leona trailing behind them, worried that he might actually collapse."
Original Novel: "Ruggie follows with a self-deprecating, 'I've gotten soft,' acting as the more adult of the two."
EN Novel: "'I should've known better, too,' Ruggie said quietly, and then he laughed at the sulking Leona."
Original Novel: "Leona may understand, but he will not force it."
EN Novel: "Leona understood."
Original Novel: "They are both still frightening, but if he does not speak now, he will never be able to face Jack again."
EN Novel: "Even though they scared him, he knew he had to speak."
Original Novel: "Jack covers Yuuya's mouth. He is strong and his voice is rough but, strangely, Yuuya is not afraid."
EN Novel: "...Jack said, and slapped a hand over Yuya's mouth. Jack was upset, but Yuya was strangely unafraid."
Subject confusion on EN:
Original Novel: "Yuuya must look quite pitiful; Riddle glances at him with slight surprise. Then, he seizes the Headmage with a cold stare."
EN Novel: "Riddle looked disappointed and surprised, too. With exasperation, he said..."
Original Novel: "Realizing that this is not just someone else's problem, Leona and the others also give the Headmage stern looks."
EN Novel: "Knowing Grim was serious, all the students glared at the headmage."
