I’m simply curious on other peoples thoughts but do we think it’s possible most merfolk have some internalized hatred for themselves because they aren’t more human?
If I were to branch off of how they treat Azul who shares even less human characteristics then your average mermaid does could the assumption be made that having more sea creature adjacent features are less desirable?
And therefore influence how others perceive themselves compared to merfolk who have more human features? Maybe I’m grasping at nothing but I want to hear what others have to say about this

TWST apocalypse au ‼️⚠️

Imagine a mutation occurring when blot accumulation spreads into ones circulation/digestions. Instead of an overblot, these people are mutated corpses with the actual blot phantom trapped in the dead body. This is where the au takes place when the disease, that started from an injured civilian from a broken magestone to acquiring such trait continues on to affect others.
Mutated people differ from the emotion the blot came from (e.g. anger, grief, trauma etc, etc) and the ones from hatred and anger are the most strong while the ones from trauma are the most deathly.
I would think that mages are most prone to the mutation infestation as they use and have a essence of magic which attracts the other mutations and can spread easier, however non magical beings in TWST are more likely to die (can still get infected)
In this au prefect and grim are at NRC after the school year ends, (obviously since the two have no homes) they are out carrying out chores from Crowley and such that cause them to decline invites from any friends to visit homes.
Suddenly a month after break, prefect and grim realizes that the school campus is empty and no one has returned from their homes, later after a ghost from ramshackle comes they find that there has been a mass population decrease.
How unfortunate, they were all supposed to continue the new school year, instead they find themselves hoping to see even a new day
