#two-and-ten

Two-and-Ten is probably the fic I’m most proud of. As it’s a Sandor-only fic it didn’t get as many readers as some of my other fics but it doesn’t matter, really, because I took an immense pleasure in writing it and it’s probably the one fic I reread. I don’t reread my stuff, otherwise.

Focusing on one character I love and trying to imagine what kind of boy he was when he was 12 was great and it seemed to me that I improved my skills while writing it (well, I had been writing in English for six months or so before Two-and-Ten, so it could only get better!). I received some great feedback about this fic, especially encouraging words coming from you, which made me think what I was doing was right - if it makes sense. 

After I finished writing Two-and-Ten, I planned to write a sequel about Sandor’s youth. As we are speaking now I don’t know if I’ll write it : to start writing it, I need to be sure I’ll be able to complete it, because I hate the idea of dropping a story… We’ll see, once I’m done with my current WIP…

14. If I were to write a sequel to this fic, what would it be about?

Well, I didn’t suspect Two-and-Ten to raise questions… 

I remember talking about a sequel to this fic with you and the answer is rather simple: Two-and-Ten was about all the changes that affected Sandor when he was twelve, during Robert’s Rebellion and it ended right after Robert overthrew the Mad King, when Sandor came back to Casterly Rock and started his training to become a swornshield… 

The sequel would relate what happens afterward, intertwinning important events for Westeros, Sandor’s personal life as well as the trials and tribulations of the Lannisters and all those Sandor meets during this time (Littlefinger’s rise to power, Joffrey’s childhood). The fic would end when Sandor meets Sansa and starts falling in love with her, so probably with the Tourney of the Hand.

As I don’t want to end up with a 500-000 word fic (I don’t have this ambition and I clearly don’t have enough time for this) and as the information we have about the years before AGOT is rather scarce, it would be more like important moments in Sandor’s life, sometimes with gaps between two chapters. 

My major problem is to find out how I can cover such a long period of time (roughly fifteen years) in a fic, with a character who becomes a man, cuts himself off from everyone (something you can already witness in Two-and-Ten) and basically becomes the fearsome warrior who scares Sansa in AGOT. Once more, characterization will be my main concern. That’s what I’ll work on before starting writing this sequel… which already has a title.
