I cant twitter but Misha, here’s what I have to say about how Supernatural ended
Thank you for being willing to listen to those of us that are upset, you really are a kind and open-minded person. A lot of us wept tears of joy when Cas confessed his love and got the representation that’d been teased but never given for so long. It was SO validating. It was devastating when he was immediately taken away (particularly because Dean didn’t get to respond in a satisfying way/at all). I understand if you say the ending of 15x18 was supposed to end with Cas going to the Empty. But there were two episodes left. Two hours of opportunity to show us that he had mattered (and could possibly come back) to his Found Family and Dean. But there was no mention of him aside from the brief “he’s fine he’s fixing heaven with Jack”. Dean never told us how he felt about any of that, despite having ample opportunity. Sam never got to express how he felt that his best friend was gone. Neither of them knew Jack had gotten him out of the Empty until they were dead. Eileen and Sam were not shown together. A blow. So many others that had been “represented”...? Forgotten. And not just the romances. The family. The Winchesters became an island unto themselves in the end. Which was far from what they had found over the course of the show.
Supernatural was and always will be a show that embodies who I grew up to be and who I continue to want to be. But those last two episodes felt wrong. They felt like a decade of character growth had regressed and been abandoned. Which, in turn, meant that my own character growth had come into question. Those last two episodes made me wonder if people had been right when they’d told me being bisexual was “just a phase” or that I just “hadn’t found the right guy”. I wondered if any of it had been worth it. Thankfully the Supernatural Family came in to save me from myself. I hope this offers a small amount of understanding for you. Again, thank you for being willing to hear the hurt. I am so proud of Castiel and who he became. Thank you for giving him life!
