When I watched it for the first time, I was devastated because my favorite characters had died, and they died such a horrible death. I had a breakdown, and it hurt almost physically. It took me about two or three weeks to recover.
Now Iām angry.
Iām angry because of how much potential the third season had. It doesnāt even matter anymore whether the full season would have been good or not, you can expect anything from this bastard, we will never know. The fact remains: the potential was there. And it was huge. They had all the cards in their hands. There was potential for character exploration and development of their relationship, potential to continue the themes of the previous seasons, potential to create a genuinely interesting plot that would not be inferior to the s1. So many Chekhovās guns and details were left behind, so many things were set up and abandoned. Iām sure that if they had given the script development to several fanfic writers from our fandom, they would have done it much better.
I donāt care who is to blame for this mess anymore. Whoever it was, Gaiman, the new writers, or if everyone contributed their own āpartā to this shit, I donāt care. Whoever it was, they ruined the HUGE potential this story had, the potential that could have made it the BEST queer love story (and not only that, because the series is not only about aziracrow, although aziracrow is an inseparable part of it) that cinema has ever known.
Thatās the most painful part. The potential was there. But unfortunately, stories do not work with āwhat ifs.ā
