Rachel looked down at her hand and picked at a hangnail.
“Rachel you put four people in the hospital. Do you understand that?”
That hadn’t been her, it had been the bird. And besides, it was in self defense! She had heard their thoughts, they hadn’t been very nice, very proper.
They deserved it. He doesn’t know.
She nodded at the Phoenix’s whisper, still ignoring the doctor. He didn’t want to be here anyway. He was thinking about going home to his wife, or mistress. It didn’t matter. He wasn’t worth their time. She had been chosen.
The shrink sighed and closed his notes. “Alright, we’ll pick this up later.”
Rachel allowed herself a small smile. That would make four sessions in a row since the police had seen fit to put her here. They thought they could lock her up, soon the Phoenix would show them. In fact...
