On Parents—AKA me TOTALLY NOT venting about the shit that just went down ten minutes ago
Honestly it's lowkey insane how much attention shitty fathers get and how little attention the arguably equally shitty mothers who help prop up their harm and gaslight their kids into thinking this is somehow their own fault get in comparison.
Like, to give a completely random example that in no way reflects the very recent events in my own household, some moms can turn "Dad deliberately inquired why I was not speaking with any tonal inflections and when I explained to him that (being that I am autistic) i was tired and they took too much effort for me to really bother maintaining at the moment given that I was at home and he could understand me perfectly find he replied 'That's fucking retarded', which, given that he's never even used that word in fifteen feet of me before, I'm like 99% sure he only even considered an option to say because said mom and I have had an (VERY recent) extended disagreement about whether or not it's okay for ANYONE in the household to use said term considering that a) last I checked--aka a whole ten years ago--that word was no longer used as a medical term, b) IT'S A FUCKING SLUR, and c) even if you don't consider it a slur it makes me greatly uncomfortable and is honestly completely inaccurate in describing my conditions or general life experiences so if you could do like the easiest thing ever and not use a word you already weren't fucking using that'd be great" to "Your anger and distress over the situation is actually a reflection of your own insecurities regarding your own diagnosis--if you just kept putting in more self-work like I keep telling you to this you wouldn't care at all if anyone said such things to you, because a random person or even a friend calling you a slur is totally comparable to YOUR OWN FATHER saying the same thing :) and also I'm going to spend way more time harping on this than acknowledging that what said dad did is indeed fucked up, assisting you in actually dealing with the situation, or even getting remotely close to admitting my own role in setting up the situation :) because, again, people can totally never be hurt by people they care about saying mean things they both know aren't true and feelings have nothing to do with context whatsoever so this is all completely on you :)"
like no actually i'm pretty damn sure being upset and angry and hurt is in fact a normal and healthy reaction to whats happening and honestly the fact that you're more focused on trying to fucking convince me that it's a goddamn personal flaw based in a failure to "build up my own self-esteem" than addressing or stopping your own husband's shitty behavior (that, remember, YOU FUCKING STARTED AND VERYARGUABLY ENCOURAGED AS "A THING I JUST HAD TO GET USED TO", WHICH IS A WHOLE OTHER STORY IM TOO PISSED TO RECOUNT) really just makes me want to a) never listen to shit you say ever again and b) shoot you and your stupid ass fucking husband in the face
