this is so random omg but is there a tutorial in how you keep your dashboard icons so clear, and high quality? no matter what I've tried, it's always low quality when i edit them onto tumblr, or discord in general
when i make dash icons, i start with a 200px x 200px canvas and the base picture is always larger than that. (it's easier to retain quality when you're sizing an image down instead of up!) using images with higher contrast will help too imo because it increases the definition in smaller pictures. (you can ofc edit this with levels, exposure, curves, brightness, etc in editing) theeeeen i convert to smart object > sharpen the image a little more than i think it needs to be > add a slight blur and turn down opacity.
specific steps i took for the below icon:
- made a frame (not required!!!) @ 120px x 160px
- convert image to smart object
- smart sharpen: amount 500% - radius 0.6% - reduce blur 0% - remove lens blur
- gaussian blur: amount 0.3 - then set opacity to 10%
- added a levels layer - adjusted the leftmost slider to 15 for increased contrast
- save for web > export as png-24 ((make sure "convert to sRBG" is turned off btw because this will make everything u export look more red))

i always thought it was funny how everyone agreed on shadow's shoes being difficult to draw, i used to struggle w them too, but it's actually more easier than it seems! the key is to visualize the correct shape first and draw the rest of the shoe around it.
the shape of sonic's shoes it's more closer to a triangle type of shape while shadow's is more like an oval.

quick question, but do you happen to have any simple line dividers?
like just solid thin dividers if you get what i mean!!

1 / first, weāre going to use an image editing app. ibisPaint X is an example. download that and click on My Gallery.
2 / on the bottom of the app, youāll see a bunch of icons. click on the ā icon. that will create a new project/file.
3 / choose the size of the line you want to make and click on š. 500 x 4 is pretty good, but you can go smaller depending on how thin you want your line to be.
4 / after choosing your size, youāll see new editing options at the bottom. i highlighted the ones that will be the most important to you.
art tool ā you can stick with the brush tool or switch to the paint bucket tool. use whatever is easiest for you.
colour selector ā pretty self-explanatory. this lets you choose colours ahaha.
5 / choose a colour. then use the brush or paint bucket tool to fill the space.
6 / if youāre happy with the colour, click on the ā¬ ļø icon on the bottom right corner and then click on āSave as PNG.ā

alright roleplayers,Ā Ā im not even going to lie ā not being able to format posts in the true Vintage Tumblr Styleā¢ has actually pissed me off so bad... anyways, if you want to bring back the oldĀ Ā Ā <sup><small>Ā Ā Ā text,Ā Ā this is how you do it.Ā
just for transparencyās sake, this will not force tiny text on people who do not follow the tutorial, so its a win win for us who like that ye olde ant sized tumblr text and those that donāt. it also works with the post editor!
āā i am not a pro coder or teacher, therefore my terminology may be off. i tried my best to illustrate & visualize everything, though !!
1.Ā Ā Ā what youāre going to want to do is download theĀ Ā Ā stylusĀ Ā Ā extension from the extension store ( mozilla & chrome ),Ā Ā notĀ Ā stylish. ( stylish steals browser history and shit.Ā Ā Ā stylish bad.Ā Ā )
2.Ā Ā when the extension is installed, selectĀ āfind stylesā from the extension menu, and look upĀ āno more small textā.Ā the correct style should have a pic of jenna marbles on the dash as the thumbnail lol.Ā
3.Ā Ā alright !Ā Ā Ā we got theĀ Ā Ā āno more small textāĀ Ā extension. it sounds counter productive, but itās not ! it edits the <small> text function, so now all we have to do is edit the font size it changes the <small> tag to. to do this, click the little pen next to the name of the extension.
4.Ā Ā this should open a new page with a text editor containing the code for the script. pay no attention to any code except the chunk shown below. see that circled green text ? that's what we're changing.
i haven't messed with em as unit for font size (i'm used to px), but i've found that 0.82em is a pretty good size to use for smaller text, however, you can mess around with the font size to make it as big or little as you want. after adjusting, your code should look like this:
5.Ā Ā after this, you're pretty much done! this will basically change the font size of anything under the <small> functions on your dashboard to your desired size. all you have to do is hit the save button to the left of the style editor page. maybe even rename it to small text or something so it's not confusing in the future.
but.... if you want to be greedy and bring back that sweet <sup> text from before, like, 2020, you're gonna add a little vertical-align attribute.
6.Ā Ā DIRECTLY after the font size styling, and BEFORE the closing } we're gonna add this: vertical-align: 3px!important; if pasted correctly, your code should now look like this:
the vertical-align tag will add an offset to the text under the <small> function, simulating the look of the old <sup><small> tag combination. we can't actually bring back real <sup><small> text because, as far as i'm aware, tumblr blocks it. just like with the prior step, mess around with the amount of vertical align to your hearts content ! after this you're finished, like actually finished.
01. open your notes app and create a new note. hit the enter bar a few times so youāre not stuck in theĀ āheadlineā mode.
02. write out your reply like you normally would, whether that be in your drafts or even on the notes app, whichever you prefer. i do mine in my drafts then copy and paste everything over.
03. now go into your html, highlight your entire reply and copy it.
04. now open your notes app and paste your reply.Ā
05. afterwards youāre going to hit command + f. a search bar should pop up at the top of your notes, youāre going toĀ āsearchā for a space. so just hit the space bar one time in the search tab.
itāll look something close to this !Ā
06. now, youāre going to check the box that says replace at the upper right. you will then paste the codeĀ &n b s p; &n b s p; ( no spaces between the letters obviously. i just canāt show you without them ) into the bar provided.
07. now highlight all of your reply BEFORE hitting replaceĀ āallā that you see right beside your bar. once youāve highlighted your entire reply, hit theĀ āallā button and let the magic happen !
itāll then look something like this. just copy your new reply and go back into your drafts, paste it over your un-formated reply in the html tab. it wonāt look right if you do it in the rich text editor, so be sure to stay in the html !
