hiii….im trying to get into flamaking, where does everyone get their stripes from ? I have seen posts with them but all of them are white and I can’t see them at all, which makes flagmaking a use struggle for me…
~🍒💄 anon [so you can recognize me if I end up sending another ask :3]
hello dear anon! here is a list of the posts that i use for flagmaking purposes... if you cannot see the white stripes, i personally recommend changing your tumblr theme or opening the images— both of these options will help greatly with viewing the fancier stripes!
i've made a reply like this in the past but i cant find it, so, here goes ^_^

Both of you wanted this so I made it a post lmao @etherealspacejelly @the-rat-1
ERM! I call this the Very Brief Guide To Human Faces (From A Furry Perspective)
Let's start with this guy.
This buddy is the absolute basics of the human face -- I guarantee that if you focused your camera on a version of it you drew, it'll recognise a face, because that's all a human is: neck, nose, under-lip, under-brows (which is also why I make the under-brow coloured darker in my style lol. Cheeky example below)
Anyways! Exaggerating and expanding outwards from these shadows are really important if you're trying to go for realism. But let's keep going with regular anatomy for now lol -- just, if you're stuck, make sure that those shapes are obvious. If they aren't, maybe that's the issue!
(That's what buddy looks like filled in. His brows are raised a bit lmao)
Mads Mikkelsen jumpscare:
(I chose him because his skull is SO OBVIOUS)
Now, this is THE cheat code of all time: in the VAST majority of mammals, the inner corners of the eyes are exactly the same width as the widest part of the nose/nostrils. In humans, since we have bones in the front of our jaws, we have another sneaky thing with this same proportion: the CHIN. Wowie!
See? These two buddies have a very obvious line. It's amazing
More things that line up are:
Top of ear: top of eye socket, bottom of ear: middle of upper lip
Bottom of nose: top of earlobe (where the hole begins)
Corner of the jaw: dip of the chin
Aaaaand there's definitely more that I can't think of off the top of my head. Oh well
Here's a small turnaround of the head for you... which leads us onto the cranium (REMEMBER that the head isn't a perfect box! It's more like a trapezium prism; that's how you can see the tips of someone's opposite ear when they're facing 3/4 away from you)
THE CRANIUM!!!
This is what a white person's head would typically look like from the side -- they tend to have more flat craniums. I like to exaggerate the shape of the overhang because it makes me happy
Another thing to do with side profiles: the default human has the JAW and the FOREHEAD PARALLEL to each other. It's an epic cheat, because if you know the rough angle of the jaw, you know the angle of the forehead. It's saved me far too many times
This is closer to my own head shape, although it's still very exaggerated lol. In short: anything that isn't the xenomorph's level of head-dome is likely the shape of a real human. Everything can be customised; everything's connected
Last bit: customising the face. You know the default -- how do you change it while still looking realistic?
Remember the line I was talking about? Contains the nose, doesn't include the eyes? You change THAT. You make the nose wider than the corners of the eyes for a big nose, and you make it smaller for a little nose. That's how your brain can tell that someone's had plastic surgery lol (people often get nosejobs without also getting their chin shape changed. There's a lot of variation in eyes, so you don't often notice those if only 1/3 doesn't align)
Same thing with the forehead and jaw being parallel. You want a square jaw? Make the jaw more of a right angle while making the forehead rounder. That's how you build juxtaposition to draw attention to the 'striking' feature.
OKAY omg that was a lot but I hope it helped lmfaooo -- I also have a mini guide for the general body so let me know if you want that too
This is my main, technically I have an art acc, it's @racoon-with-a-tablet , although I don't really post there and I've actually started posting there more!! Exciting!
@star-child-go-wild << Palette sideblog. Not dead btw, I'm just slow
Love utmv, feel free to talk to me about it if you wanna (or just about anything)
proship dni
My tags (mostly for my own self to remember)
#olisa's asks - asks I get :]
#save tagg - stuff I save
#special to me - same thing, just more intense
#cool people museum - basically means "for meeeeee? :0 :]". Art replies or stuff of the sort. Also sometimes I just wanna save it when people reply to my asks
#participate later - when I see a dtiys
#check later - don't wanna/can't look now, saving for later
#tutorial tag - for tutorials
#art to study - I SWEAR I tagged one singular art with it. Where is it. Did I word it differently?? How do I find it??? Anyway, if it's lost to history then this is the new one. Something that is so well made that I have to look and absorb it and figure out WHY it's good
(Bonus: #ggalpalb tag & #signanothername bangersss - they were going to other save tags way too often so I had to give them their own one)
🌱Someday I'll make the pinned post pretty. Trust!🌱
(ended up making a reblog acc for nsfw, nothing there yet but yk. In case you want it ig?? @olisa-lurkinggg)
Hey how did you make those sprite comics? Been wondering how people even make them?
...This was the moment I've been waiting for.
A chance to make a tutorial. Not just for you, but for anyone. I want to see more sprite comics on tumblr, dammit! I'll teach you all if I have to!
...Ahem. Without further ado... 'Goofhell's Crash Course on Sprite Comics'... enjoy.
Nero: "So, our anonymous Master wants to learn how to make sprite comics, hm? Umu! For Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, that shall be no problem!"
Tamamo: "But please remember that everyone has a slightly different process. I'm sure to some, this may be a bit inefficient, but the mod is a bit new to this as well, and this is what they found to be the best for them."
Nero: "Hey... where are our text boxes? We're screaming into the void of Tumblr like plebeians! How crude! I demand--"
Tamamo: "Just... wait until later in the tutorial, 'Your Majesty'... now, lets take a looksie at just where we are."
Nero: "Ah, there we are! Behold, my splendor! Aren't I beautiful? I'm sure anon agrees. But... what's all this surrounding us?"
Tamamo: "That's the editing software. The mod likes to use Krita. It's free, and relatively easy to use!"
Nero: "E-Easy...? Umu... I see. But this all seems rather overwhelming... not for me, but for... you know, people other than me!"
Tamamo: "Don't worry. For most sprite comics, you'll only really be using a few of the tools Krita (or any other software) provides."
--
[There are six tools that you'll really need for sprite comics, especially basic ones.]
- The rectangular or freehand selection tool (for picking out expressions!)
- The 'transformation' tool (for adjusting sprites and text boxes!)
- The 'move' tool (for moving around sprites!)
- The text tool (for adding text!)
- The 'freehand brush' + Eraser setting (for cleaning up!)
- The 'file' tab (for adding sprites and backgrounds!)
- The 'layer' tab (for editing your sprites!)
--
Nero: "I see, that's a relatively short list! But Casko... where do I find these 'sprites' and 'backgrounds'?"
Tamamo: "Oh, there are a number of sources! But the easiest is the wiki! On our character pages, our transparent expression sheets are ready and available! You and I are here and here! But the FGO wiki also has several backgrounds accessible right here, from different parts in the story!"
Nero: "Different parts of FGO's story? But... Casko, I'm still back in Septem, I couldn't bare to leave such a wondrous story chapter! Everything after it has to be absolutely dreadful in comparison!"
Tamamo: "Mikon! You're seriously still on Part 1!? Well... be careful to watch out for spoilers, then!"
[Once you pick out your sprite and backgrounds, open up your editing software! Then, go to 'file' and click 'open'. It should bring up your computer's 'file explorer', and you can pick your background from there!
Once you pick your background, on Krita you can click on the 'layers' tab, then 'import/export', and then 'import' layer. From there, you can add in your sprites! After that, you can use the 'transform' and 'move' tools to scale and move them around to wherever you'd like.]
Nero: "I know! Next comes expressions! Casko, if you don't mind..."
Tamamo: "No problem, no problem. I'll just step out for a moment..."
Nero: "There. Now it's just the two of us... Do you feel honored to be tutored by an emperor of Rome? Now, expressions are very easy once you get the hang of them. First, make a duplicate of the 'base' layer with your sprites body and expression sheets."
[Right-click on your 'base' tab (the initial one you put into the editor) and find the option to duplicate it. Then, drag it up so you see all of the available expressions.]
Nero: "Just like that! Now, cut out the expression you want with the selection tool, and erase the others. You could also just hide some of the excess slightly offscreen if you're feeling lazy...
A-hem-- The 'rectangular selection' tool makes selecting things easier, but you can freehand it if you wish. It's getting a bit crowded here, so pick one quickly! I want to be smiling brightly, as I am very happy to be here right now!"
[Use the rectangular-selection tool to select a specific expression on the sheet. Now, separate it from the rest of the duplicated base- either by intentionally dragging it away, or erasing everything around it (on that layer!). With that, you should have a lone expression, waiting to be used.]
Nero: "Good, good! Now, all you have to do is line up that expression with my body. This is actually a bit tricky to get perfect... if it's slightly off, it's fine as the sprites are small enough to give the illusion of a smooth change of expression. But try to get it as close as possible!
You'll actually notice the most discrepancy on pieces of armor, or around the bosom. Don't feel bad about getting finnicky with details, but don't waste too much time! You have a comic to make, after all!"
[Using the 'move' tool on the 'expression layer', drag the separated expression to the original 'base', and try to line it up as best as possible. You can tell how well it's doing by toggling the layer on and off. If the expression translates from your selected one to the base relatively smoothly, then you've lined it up pretty well. Remember to keep your expressions as separate layers!
Do that with all the expressions you need for the comic, and you're golden!]
Nero: "Umu! There I am, and now I look as delighted as I feel! Now most of the work is done! Make sure you give each expression layer a name, so it can be organized! Now, all that's left is adding text. Oh... should we call Caster back? I mean, we're doing pretty well without her..."
Tamamo: "Oh no you don't, Saber! I'll take over the text-box section, thank you very much. You've been hogging the spotlight too much! Now get moving!"
Nero: "Gah! F-Fine, I'll go! I'll be back later, anonymous Master!"
Tamamo: "...Phew... I thought she'd never leave. Now, let's get down and dirty, Master ♥... because text boxes can be real tricky."
[Fine a blank text-box template. There's one available on the Grand Order subreddit here! They're slightly different than the ones I use, but they're good general use. Import them in just like you've imported in everything else. Use the transformation tool to adjust it to fit.
FGO's text boxes are slightly opaque, so set the opacity to around 92-94%. If you can see their legs just a little bit, it's good!]
Tamamo: "Oh my! Good work! Now all you have to do is add in the text itself. Use the 'text' tool to add in some text. Let's try my name and something cute! I know you can do it, Master!"
Tamamo: "No... the font is all wrong! The font closest to what FGO uses is FOT-Skip Std B. So, you'll have to search around for either that font or a similar one, and download it so that it's available on your computer!"
[Downloading fonts differs per computer, but it's a relatively simple process! You can find download links to the fonts you need, and guides for downloading fonts all over. Again, the one most people use is 'FOT-Skip Std B'.]
Tamamo: "Let's fix the font up and try again, shall we?"
[Adjust the text as you see fit! Whatever looks the best/aligns the best with what the game itself usually does!]
[And that's the basics! Feel free to leave more asks if you have any questions!]

aaah i love your robbie in totoro's onesie ;u; i have one question, do you have any tips about how to draw body ? because i love the way you do them !
Ohhoho thank you!! Well, anatomy is, pardon my french, a sonuvabitch honestly. Though, its also immensely fun to draw. Usually when I draw torsos ( which is about 90% of the stuff i draw ), I try to mimic the shape of the ribcage and the hipbone.
The red line is a helping line for how the ribcage is angled/curved. I mainly use it as a sort of spine? But also to accent curves. Here are some more examples:
Don’t shy away from looking at reference pictures sometimes. I like to study people walking/moving when I’m on the street, or look at pictures on Google. Real life references are your friends ;) hope that helped somehow ! ^^’’
I always get this requested but i finally decided to do it! My explanation isn’t the best but I’ll try! (You do not have to follow this point by point exactly, make your style your own but its OKAY to draw inspiration from others :)
Alright lets get started under the cut!
I’ll be using a cap of Hinata Shouyou from Haikyuu!!
STEP ONE: Find your cap & clean any unwanted lines. I won’t make a tutorial for this since my cleaning isn’t all that special. I just used the erase tool lol
STEP TWO: Overlaying lines. I personally am not a fan of using plain black lines (it’s okay if you do!!) I like to use dark reds & pink to give lines color. This is what i set the layer to. Make sure it’s clipping group and the layer right below it is the lineart!
This is a huge difference when you overlay colors to your lines. It just gives it more depth
STEP THREE: Base colors. Pretty self-explanatory. I like to have separate layers for skin, hair, clothing etc.
STEP FOUR: Shading. When i shade i like to think of it as make up, blend, AND blend. I like to “line” where i plan on shading before blending it out. When in doubt blend it out!
STEP FIVE: Finishing touches. For the BG i take a mid-toned gray or pink. Sometimes i like to add a grainy filter from photoshop, i don’t always do this, If i feel the color is lacking the i like to take a very light pink, and set it at 25-50% overlay, no clipping mask. but it’s all up to you. :)
TADA! This is my shitty basic ass coloring, hope you enjoyed my bad explaining!
hey i've been wondering how do you pick colors? i really like the tones :)
I’ve been meaning to post something like this but tada! I’m a fan of warm tones, as you can obviously tell. I pick different shades of pink depending on the base tone. Hope this helps!
