Hiiii!!!! I hope that your are doing well. I’m very impressed with your work. I appreciate textures and vibrant colors, especially in the sims. So… I wanted to know, how did your learn to do all that? Also how long did it take?. I have a huge project in mind but I don’t even know hoe to open blender 😭, it is very frustrating. I would appreciate some advice.
Hi! Thank you so much, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I started with the bare basics in 2018 (patterns, paintings, learning how to recolor objects and operate TSRW/get objects in game) but I really started getting into creating around 2019. I watched YouTube videos on how to start modeling, uv mapping, and texturing in gimp. I had never used photoshop or blender before either, and I taught myself mainly by experimentation and over time, experience. Downloading free models helped a ton, since I could see how the artist made the object, and figure out how to create it from scratch. And of course the wonderful creators who answered all my questions (many of them) and guided me through when I got stuck. Every project taught me something new, and still does even now. There are things I did just a few months ago that I would like to redo because I've already learned more. It's a long process, but I fell in love with it and can't wait to see where it will take me. I hope you find the same if it's something you want to do.
As far as advice, I can't help too much unless I know what you're wanting to do specifically. I suppose in general I would start with the UI of blender, read or watch tutorials on the basic functions, tools, shortcuts. And do the same with gimp or photoshop.
