Unfortunately most of my political and social commentaries boil down to "why be mean when you can be nice?" Which is often why I don't post anything like that here.
I could be writing a big long post with evidence to back up my arguments but then I realize that the people in power operate on such a different playing field than that. It's more like "why be mean when you can be worse?" In their eyes, the concept of not being completely awful is foreign to them.
And I think that posting that on Tumblr specifically is like,, you guys know. I know you guys know. It's falling on ears that have heard the same message a million times. But of course I post this on Instagram or anywhere else and I genuinely think those people NEED to hear that. They seem kind of unaware, if that makes sense.
Of course when those things DO get posted there's always someone saying "ohh don't worry about it, that won't happen" (ex: my worries about the trump presidency in regards to not only transgender people but also surveillance and misinformation and immigration). And guess what? What I thought would happen, has. And worse than what I was thinking, so much worse.
So anyways, why be mean when you can be nice?
