Troy Ritchie’s The Voice Auditions

All the way from Trabuco Canyon, California the very talented and unique Troy Ritchie tried out for the NBC hit show The Voice on Monday night. He sang the song “Out of my League” by Fits and The Tantrums.

Not only is “Out of my League” a song very close to my heart, but Troy Ritchie is very close to my heart as well. Troy has been a friend of mine since middle school, from being in my 8th grade advanced english class to turning into a close friend throughout high school. Troy and I have collaborated on a few songs here and there but I have always been so inspired by his talent and motivation. He is the type of person who knows exactly what he wants and he will do everything he can to get it. Since the beginning of highschool he has been in a band called Sleep State where they started off with hard metal and screamo; He then took the singer songwriter approach to his music and now has a very distinct raw sound to his voice. He has played in local bars and cafes for about 5 years now and he has finally found his break.

When I saw him on Monday night in front of that huge crowd I felt so incredibly inspired and touched. He has already worked so hard to get where he is at and then when Gwenn Stefani a coach on The Voice turned her chair around during his performance my heart sank. It was such an incredible moment for him. As she turned her chair around his eyes and voice immediately lid up and the performance only got better. I cannot wait to see how he does in the competition because I only have the highest hopes for him. He might not be the strongest singer but he has the heart and the musical knowlegde to go far in this competition and outside of this. Monday was just the beginning of the rest of his singing career and I cannot wait to be there through it all.
