and Morgan!Christine is like, ‘What? Why? You were great from what I can tell. I mean, I was kinda expecting you and your friends to all do the bare minimum ‘cause you all just wanted an art credit or whatever, but you looked like you were having fun. Real fun.’

and Rich just kind of shrugs and is like, ‘Well, yeah, I was. More fun than I thought I would, actually. But you know how Mr. Reyes is - he’s never gonna cast me sounding like this.’

and then Christine immediately just ‘-AGGRESSIVE MOM FRIEND MODE ACTIVATED- Oh no you DON'T, Richard Goranski! Just because you speak differently doesn't mean people don't wanna hear what you have to say! There are plenty of characters in the world of theatre who would benefit from having their story told in a different voice, from an actor who is speaking genuinely rather than in a cartoony voice.' and then she goes on to list tons of characters, some comedic relief, some dorky side characters, even some obscure protagonists that she thinks Rich would be able to pull off

and it’s great for Christine because she gets to infodump about all of her theatre hyperfixations and the little things that make unique actors and actresses so great and Rich is just listening so intently because wow, Christine really knows her stuff and maybe she’s right? Maybe he really still CAN do theatre? Just listening to her enthusiasm makes him think it’s possible.

So when it comes time for the spring school production (because most schools do a winter play/musical and a spring one) Rich goes to sign up with Christine. And some asshole inevitably calls Rich gay for it. And Christine looks all fiery-eyed like she’s about to go on a rant about how there are a bunch of men in theatre of all sexualities and all different parts of the gender spectrum who are equally amazing neither their sexuality nor their gender identity has anything to do with their acting capabilities, but before she can do so Rich just nonchalantly goes in sassy bi fashion, “No, sorry hon, actually I’m bi, I’m only gay sometimes. And you? Ugh. Not my type.” and then he drapes an arm around Christine’s shoulders and leads her off so she doesn’t try to fight the asshole. (Though she still rants to him about how he should have let her and some of the points she was going to make, and Rich listens attentively and laughs and assures her he appreciates the sentiment and that her arguments are totally on point, he just doesn’t think ignorant assholes are worth wasting her words on.)

Yesterday was Bisexual Visibility Day and I totally didn’t find out until until near midnight so I just wanted to post this audio of Rich’s coming out because gotta love the bicon boy.
