Why are Trojans frequently portrayed as darker in fan art ? especially in comparison to the Greeks .
I'm curious whether or not there's an actual reason for this or is it just vibes
(and if troy is around where modern day turkey is then doesn't that make less sense )
My my! This is a difficult topic to discuss because honestly I think I am not the person that will give you the "proper answer" given that every artist has their own ideas for their art, their own conceptions of the world, their own choices etc. So the best way to deal with this for sure is to question the artists that interest you as to why they do what they do.
What I can do is reply based on what I got from my own personal experience online, looking through people's comments on social media on the topic as well as the so many discussions that suddenly almost everyone seems to make online....so here goes what I got from my personal experiences;
Achaeans, Trojans, and Sea Peoples

History may be written by the victors but even in their writings you can tell they were dicks
how Dracontius felt making the enslaved trojans and trojan freedman help electra save baby orestes i like this part "The ocean rages for the Phrygians, the sea is Troy’s avenger. What crime did these children commit? What did these tender youths do on the plains before Troy in the time of war?"
