Riddler’s plan to flood the city and force the survivors into one place where his followers could mow them down was basically the initial plan that the Columbine shooters had and that plus his video journaling were super interesting from a criminological perspective.

The other batkids:

ANON I’M LOVE YOU!!!! (sorry there wasn’t really any Alfred, my mind kind of ran away with me on this one)  I could write a whole essay about this moment and how it could have gone down, but instead have this lil fic about how Bruce really really really should have gone to therapy :)

TW: panic attacks (based on my own experiences), violence

The thing about panic attacks is that they don’t change.

A panic attack is not a drug or alcohol or anything you can build a tolerance to.  A panic attack is not swimming or riding a bike or something that can be learned.  Every time is like the first, as lungs stutter and thoughts run together and your heart beats a staccato, frantic rhythm.  

Bruce Wayne knows this.  He knows it because he was nine and had to withdraw from school for the first time because he couldn’t hear a door slam without breaking out into tears.  He knows it because he was fourteen and storming out of Leslie Thompkins’ clinic because I don’t need therapy I’m not broken only to be stopped dead in his tracks by the sound of gunfire down the street.  He knows it because he was nineteen and Zatara rubbed circles in his back and told him that no one handles their first drowning very well and the sound of pearls hitting water kept echoing in his ears.  He knows it because he was twenty-two and Ra’s al Ghul shoved a sword into his shoulder and snarled that he had to be better but he couldn’t catch his breath and oh God, he wanted to be better.

Please give this boy the love he deserves

Duke has BY FAR the best British accent out of the Batkids (which comes from all the dinosaur/nature documentaries he watched as a kid). Alfred would never admit it (bc Dick and Jason literally begged him to teach them and Tim and Cass have a game of Who Can Do the Worst Accent) but sometimes he gives Duke pointers on pronunciation.

Being the only one who had a normal childhood, Duke is also the only one who gets driven insane by the fact that no one in the goddamn family goes to normal grocery stores or wanders around Target or the mall or whatever for fun. He calls Steph at least once a week to complain about this.

Duke is VERY protective of the Jurassic Park movies. Like, he definitely roasts them for scientific inaccuracies, but he’s the ONLY ONE who’s allowed to do so. Anyone else who tries gets a *Jason Mamoa voice* ‘speak up you got a problem with my man?’

If Titus is mad at Damian (usually occurs after nail clippings or baths) he goes and hangs out with Duke. Damian is enraged by this, but as far as he can tell, there’s no trickery or bribery on Duke’s part; Titus just loves him.

The We Are Robin crew hangs around the manor a lot because Duke invites them over. Bruce has lowkey adopted all of them in his heart, which is going to come back to bite him when Duke inevitably ambushes him about getting his own superhero team a la Young Justice or the Titans.

Duke, Tim, and Cass go thrifting a lot. They like finding weird and cool shit. They had an anonymous Instagram where they’d post pictures of their best finds along with a little made-up story about the item and the name of the shop. Of course then someone (Tim) leaked the account to someone else (Conner) and that someone else leaked it to their Reporter Mom, and suddenly it’s a Verified Wayne Account. Didn’t stop them though, now they just have to wear ridiculous disguises to go out.

Duke doesn’t mind blood and injuries in the heat of battle, but he has a rough time learning first-aid, as all the Robins have to. For some reason just looking at a broken bone or big gash without all the adrenaline of fighting makes him crazy sick. Whenever someone has a wound for him to practice on, he has to keep a bucket by his feet, just in case.

Duke’s still in that awkward 15-year-old phase where he obviously curses, but he doesn’t really want his parents to know that. All the other Batkids are old enough/comfortable with Bruce that they curse around him a fair amount, but Duke’s not quite there yet. He yelled “Shit!” in front of Bruce after Scarecrow jumped out at him in a cornfield, and he still feels kinda bad about it.

Duke plays DnD with Tim, Harper, Luke, Jean-Paul, and Kate, with Babs as a DM.  Cass likes to watch, and both Dinah and Selina have recurring PCs.  Duke has a ton of characters, but currently he’s playing a dragonborn on a quest to find his father.

Overall impression: LOVED it

As a Real Life Disabled (Former) Kid, they got Freddy down so good. Um, a lot of his lines made me laugh and cry at the same time. He was perfect and I would die for him and Billy needs to be a better brother that’s all

I felt like they could have done more with the Deadly Sins but they also didn’t make Lust a big-tittied lady so like, overall I feel like we lucked out

The part where he found his bio mom....... holy fuck. That hurt. Wow.

Also the part where Silvana is holding his head underwater and he’s trying to say Shazam but he can’t? That was fucked up damb

Gay Icon Pedro 10/10

I really wanted there to be more to the one sin that Sivana always held back. I wanted it to have more of a character arc- like the sin was Greed bc he never really let go of all the awful things his father said to him or it was Pride bc he thinks he understands better than the Wizard about the goodness of human hearts. Literally anything.

It felt a little....... iffy to me that they chose to make the Wizard black. I’m always a fan of race-bending, and the DCEU has been pretty great so far in that respect, but there are a lot of harmful tropes associated with mystical black men, and as mentioned before, the Wizard is a dick to children so.... I’m probably not the best person to expound on this, but it was a thought I had.

I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THEY DID SHAZAM-FAM!!!! I was holding out hope for an end credits tease but I didn’t even think they’d do that. And then it ended up being a major part of the movie!!! I was so proud of all of them!!!! I am so excited for the sequel (and when they meet Adam)
