And she would be right to.

Unfortunately, that won't stop Icy from making a picket sign that says "Tritannus is hotter than Riven; you guys are just mean" and proceeds to shove it into Darcy's face.

Stormy adds "monsterfucker rights" to it and Icy smacks her right in the face because she's not a monsterfucker gdi, they just don't have taste!

I think Icy and Tritannus are both people with a lot of ambition and lofty goals. Which isn't necessarily an issue, in fact it's good to both be ambitious and to try to achieve things together. But with them, these goals and ambition end up being a point of competition and conflict which is where they're a terrible couple. Neither of them views the other as an ally nor does their relationship seem to be based in mutual affection or respect. There's a weird undercurrent of "I'm using them to achieve what I want" with Tricy and it makes their supposed moments of affection for each other seem disingenuous. They're both people who want to lead and neither of them is willing to be a follower and that conflict is where the issue lies.

I just can see Icy and Darcy having a talk like that during season 1 and 5 about Riven and Tritannus.

And while they are fighting Stormy would just stand there in the backround and be like "😶....And all that because of a guy ...🤦‍♀️"

I think I've seen that somewhere.

Short answer is I don’t hate it but it was handled badly.

Long answer is that much like everything else in Winx: the idea could have been cool but the execution is terrible. We get to see a more vulnerable side of Icy, which had been lacking up to that point. We get to see how their (Icy and Tritannus’s) thirst for power ended up corrupting their relationship which is also a pretty cool lesson. We see tension among the Trix with Stormy and Darcy openly being unhappy about the alliance with Tritannus which also gives them depth beyond “Icy’s minions” which is severely lacking. I also like that having Icy (the leader) in a romantic relationship with Tritannus is actually a somewhat reasonable explanation for the Trix siding with Tritannus that season (most of their villain alliances are explained really badly.) It would have the Trix once again romantically aligned with someone close to the heroes (Darcy with Riven in s1, and now Icy with Aisha’s cousin.) All of these make the potential of Icy/Tritannus really cool and it could have worked decently. But when you get to the actual season it’s just a mess. Which could have worked if it had been intentional to show how evil corrupts love or whatever rather than the writers not knowing how to write.
