What can be an insider's tip for winter sports in winter is an opportunity for recreation in any form when there is no snow. Whether hiking, climbing or cycling, the leisure road offers an opportunity for every form of micromobility or on foot.

The Gschnitztal is a side valley of the Wipptal, close to the Stubai Alps.

Starting in Matrei, the route follows the waterway via Steinach am Brenner and Trins. Along the way, you will come across informative and relaxing stops along the waterway. From Matrei am Brenner it was just over 50 km to the Laponesalm and back.

The mill village with its large waterfall is a particular highlight alongside the brute nature. While recovering your lungs with a few breathing exercises at the waterfall, you can take yourself back in time to around 100 years ago and see how people had to master their lives and crafts back then.

Further along the trail, there are several places where you can park your bike and venture up to the Tribulaunhütte.

The ascent by bike to the Laponesalm is quite a challenge. The path is not completely asphalted. I rode the route on an MTB, biobike. But with a road bike with 19mm tires you can also get through very well in any case.

By the way, bikes can be hired at the Bergeralmbahn valley station.

The Laponesalm also offers its own cab service, so that everyone has the opportunity to go on an excursion.

From here, the journey can continue towards the Bremer Hütte. According to the Alpine Club, the ascent takes a good 5 hours.
