When it comes to tree identification I find myself constantly second guessing myself. So ... HELP!!!
Please, someone with more confidence help me figure out who these little cuties that are suddenly springing up all over the Woods are. Purple arrows indicate young trees of mystery.
These are the leaves.
And this is the bark. (Three different trees of different ages)
They are growing in the understory of the Doug fir and Cedar, some are right next to the ponds and some are not near a water source (the ones in the top photo are on the edge of a drop off that goes down to the creek.) Over the last several years we have had a couple pop up each spring, this year I am seeing about 30 or so. Does anyone recognize them? We are in the Pacific NorthWest.
