Timbrrr !
A tree came down during the storm before Christmas. Â Winds came out of the west and belted through at 110km/hr. Â
That’s 60 knots of wind. Â
We were away at the time  . . . thank goodness, if I’d been home and witnessed this I would have had an apoplexy or two. Â
The root ball stands about 12 feet high, the tree is about 85 ft tall.
It fell towards our house.
It JUST missed the house — but it missed it.
By 2 inches.
My shattered nerves.
Start of the semester vs Current me
I can now answer the question...if a tree falls in the forest...a lot of people hear.

TREE DOWN
The neighbor's tree fell over suddenly during some wind and rain this past week. I was actually home when this happened and didn't hear a thing. I pinched some of the broken trunk wood after taking the pic of where the trunk snapped off, and that shit was totally soft.
Ok so, the Storms™ are on their way but it’s pushing a High Front ahead of it.
It’s currently a beautiful sunny 73º here with wind gusts up to 75 M/hr which have caused a very old, very tall ponderosa pine to fall over, right across the driveway.
Thankfully we are able to drive around what’s left of it so we can still come and go but it’s going to be there a few days while we find someone to come cut it up and haul it away. Â
I’m a little sad that it came down but it wasn’t entirely unexpected.
It’s been a dubious beginning to the new year. Here’s hoping for more auspicious days to come.
