Cape Town to Canada

So much of this feels like the ocean crossing we did 10 years ago.  

We made lists, planned routes, bought provisions, checked medical supplies, had long days at sea without seeing anyone else and sometimes I was scared.  

But there is one difference . . .  we had no wi-fi !  

What would’ve been a fantastic weekend spent outdoors,

Lose your shit tomorrow.

Today’s no day to fall apart.

No bread.  No butter.  

So I checked out the soup isle.

Back to school … NOT I !  

I have this wonderful friend in Newport Beach who send s me a box of oranges every year for Christmas! He is a darling, generous man. The artwork on the packaging is different every year ! This year it’s Granpa.

The oranges are sweet this year, just right, no acidic at all. The taste reminds me of the ones I had as a child in South Africa, grown in Citrusdal. Sweet and juicy.

Very pretty, if you don’t have to go out and shovel it.

When I “complained” to my 95 year old neighbour she said,

“It’s winter. In Canada. Get on with it.”
