And then he was murdered.

And when Blue walks in the room he gets a little jolt because all of a sudden he Remembers. Remembers the taste of cilantro. Remembers his chest burning while he held his breath underwater, swimming in a lake with his sisters.

He’s forgotten what it was like to be alive and all of a sudden he’s hungry for it, starving. He comes right up to her and presses his cheek to hers, heedless of how weird it is, how animal, how inhuman, heedless of whether or not she wants the contact, and when he touches her he gets a flash of turning and seeing Whelk with his skateboard already mid-arc, a starburst of pain like nothing he’d ever felt before and then

Nothing.

He blinks himself back to reality, or whatever passes for reality for him these days and Blue’s backed up from him, hugging herself, and there are goosebumps all up and down her bare arms. He wonders for a second if she saw what he saw, felt what he felt, but no. They were his memories. She was just the light in the projector booth.

“Sorry,” he says, and he didn’t know ghosts could feel hate but he hates the faded sound of his voice, hates the faded afterimage of real anger that seems to be all he can muster.

gansey: 80s soft rock (think jim croce, simon and garfunkel, phil collins) and classical music. also the beatles.

blue: the most obscure punk indie bands you can imagine. all trans or women fronted. if you've heard of them she isn't a fan.

adam: classic 80s rock. queen, journey, etc.

noah: we know he likes blink-182, so in that vein; fall out boy, green day, mcr, etc.

ronan: we know his canon music taste and it's BadTM lol. edm and irish folk music?? i think he'd like folk punk and heavy metal.

henry: madonna, obv. cher, beyonce, ariana grande. chappell roan for SURE (his favorite song is supergraphic ultra modern girl)

Ronan — like I already mentioned in the previous post that inspired this one, I am a huge believer in Ronan being a fan of Mother Mother. I can see him being drawn to both the fact that they are relatively “non-mainstream”, the way they sound, and to their rebellious lyrical themes, often challenging social norms and exploring the connection between masculinity and violence (“Mano o Mano” was the song that made me think of him especially). Another band I think he would LOVE is 100 gecs because you can’t tell me their songs do not give off the same vibe as the Murder Squash song was described to be: brain-scratching and funky (when you know how to have fun) but sort of “annoying” enough to the average listener for him to put it on when he wants to piss someone off. Then there is the canon fact that he listens to EDM music. That, combined with the two bands I mentioned, would probably make up the majority of his >public< playlists BUT in >private< he would definitely also have his 💫yearning & religious guilt time slots💫 where he just listens to Hozier

Gansey — I am a strong believer that he is one of those people who just pick one, preferably dead and “old school”/ “vintage”, musician to idolise and then just listen and re listen to >mostly< only their music (assuming that they have an extensive discography to pick from). Now, hear me out, I could very reasonably see David Bowie being that musician for him. As a huge fan myself, I feel like a lot of Bowie’s songs possess the same sense of wonder and adventure that Gansey primarily sees the world through. Like, I can definitely see him having “Heroes” as his “victory song” and being immensely fascinated by “Cygnet Committee” (possibly even thinking about it through Glendower’s POV)

Blue — my bets are on her favourite singer being Kate Bush because she is just whimsical like that. Moreover, I think that her music must consist of primarily “weird” and “misunderstood” women in general. That being said, other artists/bands she listens to are probably Bjork, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Strawberry Switchblade, Siouxsie and the Banshees (bc of Siouxsie Sioux), Fleetwood Mac (bc of Stevie Nicks), etc. Realistically, she also likely first heard/find out about these artists because it’s the type of music that’s played around 300 Fox Way. My headcanon is that she used to have a brief identity crisis because of that cause she wanted to have a separate identity from her other household members but just could not help loving these artists (she eventually reached a satisfying conclusion that at least it makes her different from the “normies” at school lol)

Adam — okay so I thought about this A LOT and no matter how I try to spin this, I just don’t see Adam as someone who intentionally listens to music????? I don’t think he would have time for that and that’s just too much of an “extra leisure activity” for someone like ADAM PARRISH. The first time I can see him consciously allocating time to search for music is probably in Harvard when he hears his acquaintances discuss someone famous and now he is doing his research to not seem out of the loop and feel normal TM (but that would not be something he necessarily enjoys). Other than that, he would maybe listen to some playlists Ronan makes for him and like them purely because of who made them hehe (now, Ronan would definitely also put some of Hozier’s yearning TM songs in there as well and Adam would probably get that there is a symbolic meaning in that but they would just never mention that)

Noah — idk, some skater boy TM music is probably in there but I am not familiar enough with the genre to say what exactly that would be. Other than that, I headcanon him as a HUGE Phoebe Bridgers stan who goes on rants about how “no one else gets her use of ghost imagery as much as he does”

a year or two later blue and gansey also get married, without a shred of legal paperwork, in a forest glade filled with wildflowers and in clothes patchworked together themselves and surrounded by loved ones and it's as beautiful and scandalous as their hearts could desire

gansey and henry weren't PLANNING to get married but henry begins a bit of expressing approval for things by telling gansey they should have it at their wedding. oh this cake is divine we should have it at our wedding. oh i love this song let's play it at our wedding. ganseyboy your outfit is a spectacle i expect to see you in it at our wedding. and then gansey starts doing it too and then, well, they've got the wedding all planned out, they might as well throw it. this is the one wedding gansey's parents are invited to and they're torn because they know this isn't an actual legal marriage (though gansey does not feel the need to explain that his groom is legally married to someone else. or that that person is blue) and also they don't understand the sarchengsey relationship and are too scared to ask and the wedding planner indulged in some freaks of whimsy but... other than that it IS a very beautiful wedding... even the most uncertain gansey relative must pause to give credit to tasteful floral arrangements

TRC/TDT Pride Headcanons! 🌈

Ronan - Wasn't planning on going until he found out that Jordan has convinced Declan to join. Then he goes purely to assist Henessey in relentlessly mocking him. Wears all black and a collar that says something provocative like "Daddy" or "Bottom". He wears it partly for kinky reasons but mostly to make Declan uncomfortable. Holds hands with Adam the whole time cos despite the risqué get-up he actually really does not want to get hit on.

Adam - Doesn't dress up but lets Blue apply some subtle face paint in the bi colours. Maybe has a little bi pride pin as well. Is mainly there for the sake of hanging out with friends but enjoys the atmosphere and sense of community as long as they avoid the parts that are too noisy or crowded.

Gansey - Absolutely thrilled to be there. Is there as an ally but is probably more hyped than any of the actual queer people he's there to support. Gets hit on several times throughout the night but is completely oblivious every time. Gets super emotional about how much he loves his friends and how honoured he feels that they can be themselves around him. Definitely cries at least once.

Blue - Wears as many rainbows as it's feasibly possible for one human to wear at a time. Rainbow clothing full of holes and rips revealing different equally rainbow coloured layers underneath. Gets into a competition with Hennessey and Ronan about who can aquire the most free condoms by the end of the night.

Noah, Henry, Jordan and Hennessey - I don't have strong headcanons for these guys other than the fact that they would all wear a fuckton of glitter and probably flirt a bunch.

blue: has her whole ear pierced, uses 10 earrings at once plus nose/septum piercing

gansey: dangly earring - gold ofc

noah: tongue piercing, eyebrow all the Emo™ ones

Ronan lynch is a great cooker. He knows how to make incredible meals, because Aurora taught him. And he actually really like eating healthy food, because, again, he grew up on a farm, and for sure they planted their own vegetables.
