i think escapism is fine as long as it doesn’t become the basis for the way you view... All Fiction. as creators and consumers, i think we should engage with the things that make us feel bad and upset and uncomfortable (which doesn’t mean like in the fandom way where engaging with tragedy and dark subjects means.... sexing up tragedy and dark subjects OR in the white writer way where the only way to engage with something as sensitive as racism is to have a black character live through a black person’s worst nightmares for some reason). i think this allows us better media literacy as well as reference points for when you’re trying to figure out why an ending or perhaps an entire work dissatisfies you

tbh i wish it was possible for YA content to come back without them being in the MCU because i honestly dont trust them to do anyone right

I totally feel that. Even when I’m being optimistic, I'm only expecting them to do the bare minimum

A friend and I are collectively hoping the Runaways TV show just. Doesn't add Xavin in because we don't trust them at all. And tbh my feelings about the YA in MCU are similar.

Yeah, I don’t see Runaways introducing them for quite awhile because of all of the Skrull set up they’d require. idk Hulu’s track record with good representation though (assuming Hulu actually gets most of the creative control, but idk how the behind the scenes stuff works). Have they been bad about it in the past?
