amornativeamerican
an amorid for when one identifies as native american because of a person, such as a partner, that they share an important connection to, or when ones identity as native american is affected by a person, such as a partner, that they share an important connection to
Any tips for trace native american beings (such as myself)?
Yes of course !! This one may be kind of short ..
TransNativeAmerican / TraceNativeAmerican tips !!
- Find out which tribe(s) you belong to! And put research into the practices and other cultural aspects of your tribe(s) !!
- Grow your hair out !! Very culturally significant for majority its seen as an extension of the spirit.
- Very dependent on your tribe(s), learn the language(s) and things like songs important to your tribe(s)!
- Learn the history of your tribe(s) and share with others how much your history means to you
Not sure if this was enough.. a lot depends on the specific tribe(s) !! Although POMO tribes are also very common.. definitely pick and choose based off what feels right to you and remember you are valid !! π©·
I have a tiktok account where I pretty much actually like all my trans/tris and pema ids are fully real / seen (tangible? idk, I do keep it socially normal cuz yeah.. ppl get weird).
but I saw a native women saying something related to the effect of "oh the white girl CLAIMING she's native" with the caption being something like "then she says she's 20%"...
I'm sorry to break it to you, but 20% of 100, is a lot for anything... then their were also people hating on people saying they were Cherokee & accused them of lying, and said they were just white people trying to act special.
and even got mad when other natives mentioned how what they were saying was fundamentally very close to how colonizers tried to 'breed out' native American genes (I say in quotes because that genuinely is such a disgusting concept that sadly did and honestly still does exist).
their were also people explaining how they either looked more white then other family members or were accused of being white despite being over 50% native.. just for others to fake claim them and be so rude..
it's so sad, I know that because I'm not cis native American (at least not to my knowledge, I've never done a genetic/DNA/ancestor test) I don't feel like I have the right to say much, but it's still so sad that people are trying to make others feel bad because their not "XYZ" culture enough.
because yes, sadly in multiple cultures they will never see you as enough :( & that is literally what British colonizers would do, they'd try to make the kids 'less native' (again quotes, because it's disgusting that it was a real idea in history).
Sneak peek π
originally I wasnβt gonna post this.. but eh, here you go :}
So, he has no name, no hair and no back view yet, but here's what he looks like!!!

My sign off is [π]
the universe hates me bad. every influencial person in my life is native american EXCEPT me.
my best friend? native.
my bf? native ancestry.
his step mother? native.
why can't it be me. when will it be me
I asked the spirits using tarot if I should reach out to a native spirit (either Inuit or Ojibwe) to see if its okay if I practice some of their customs as someone transitioning into the culture and the spirits said I should reach out
im so scared though ππ
