Audio blog 072022: About transdisciplinarity, and why we need it in artistic research, learning and practice.
Critical psychology is not one thing, it is made up diverse voices from mental health service users, feminists, disability right activists and Marxists. All of these outsider voices make up the discipline.

Some thoughts after the lecture today
the coolness of transdiciplinary work: unlocking another ‘sphere’ of understanding - there’s something magical about that, creating a new world, engaging in a different way
What kind of book might an artist and a writer create together, given free reign?
Ws reminded of this book created in Collaboration between Lloyd Jones and Euan Macleod while writing my postcard - I came across it once in a book shop and was really excited by it. Reading up on it it reminded me of the content of this weeks lecture, thinking about the undertaking of a research project as an artist in collaboration with others - not necessarily with agenda, but with love for what you do, your way of looking, and intuition. Makes me want to stick on at uni and do my masters, and let the research drive me!

Seriously loved yesterdays lecture from David
Was just really excited that art/design have value other than aesthetically - or that our perspective, our way of seeing as artists and designers can bring important understanding. Our way of seeing is not just making someone else's content pretty, but through a new framing, a whole new way of researching and understanding. I love that doing what I love, exploring how I explore - is research. communicating to DISCOVER.
I love collaboration, I’m excited for what might be ahead in terms of research AS an artist and how together with other ways of seeing the world we can bring new light on a subject. This way of looking at design is so much broader than to just design the content of others, we BRING value!
I also loved this understanding of work in context - where does this work exist, what different contexts and platforms could it exist in, what different audiences could it reach Who do I want to reach and how could my work help

Further Education for Unsuccessful Grades 9 to 12 School Leavers in South Africa | Chapter 03 | Current Research in Education and Social Studies Vol. 3
Statistics released by the Education Management Information Systems (EMIS), (2002 to 2009) reveal that 60% of learners entering Grade 9 leave school without attaining Grade 12 certificates. These learners do not qualify for employment because employers prefer well-trained experienced employees. A limited number (12 500 annually) of learner ship and apprenticeship opportunities are also out of reach because they have to compete with better-qualified candidates. High unemployment rates (25.3%) and very high youth unemployment (48%) signifies their bleak prospects. The poor success rate of these learners, attempting further education at FET colleges, implies inappropriateness of the existing curricula at these colleges to address their educational needs. Their educational foundation, primarily based on language, mathematics and science proficiency, is insufficient for progress in mainstream further education at schools or Further Education and Training colleges. The aim of this study is therefore to investigate the educational situation and propose a curriculum for a specific field, which can serve as an example for further research and establishment of appropriate curricula over the spectrum of learner aptitudes and interests. For this purpose, the field of engineering was selected to reduce the research to manageable size, uniform characteristics and a specific curriculum focus. Addressing their quest for skills and qualifications can be met with transdisciplinary practicum-based education obviating the linguistic-logic-mathematical predilection of mainstream education.
