This is taken from a long message I sent to someone a while ago, but I've revised it and cleaned it up a bit.

And I ask these questions here, rather than Google, or anything as such, because I want to understand in a human way; I want to talk to REAL transgender people and try to understand, as best as I possibly can. I want to get their experiences and their thoughts.

I do want to be respectful to the trans community.

I want to RP a transwoman, but I am not sure how to go about it.

I know nothing about the body dysmorphia one goes through being trans.

I don't understand the hormone therapy, how a transwoman goes about it. How does the HRT work on the body, what does it do? What does it do to the breasts and/or do implants ever enter into it?

What do the hormones do to the skin, the facial hair, body hair, etc.

Both pre and post-op questions... how long does a transwoman need to keep taking hormone treatments AFTER having surgery?

I want to make my muse's internal emotional experiences as close to the truth as possible; both their internal experiences, as well as their external experiences, physicalities, etc., as close to realistic as possible.

Yes, my muses all touch the supernatural world in some way, but I refuse to denigrate or shy away from the real problems that people in the trans community face just because this is a fictional character.

I am not trans. I am a cis male. But I would like to venture out into possibly playing a trans muse.

I have absolutely no idea exactly HOW, though.

Would it be wrong of me - like seriously wrong wrong - to talk to a trans person or two, get a little insight and help, and try to play one? Or would that be something that would be horribly insulting?

The last thing I want to do is fetishize a trans person, or misrepresent the transgender community or transgender people if I were to try playing one.

This is one of the few times when I actually DO care, very much so, if I offend or insult someone.
